Creo Freezes for several minutes after inserting a custom symbol into a drawing

This has been happening for a few months now and thought maybe upgrading to 5.0 would have fixed it. When I insert a custom symbol, everything works normally until I click "ok" or "cancel". Creo then freezes for several minutes (sometimes its only 30 seconds or so). Anyone ever experience this before? Also happens to a coworkers computer and I'm not sure if this is the result of a company update or not.
