Question

datum plane referencing, creo 3.0

Hi all,

I have an assembly with many parts. I created a hole in a unique position on a part, lets call it part1, using a datum plane that has references from another part, part2. I do not want part2 in my assembly anymore. But I do want the hole in part1. I cannot think of a way to change references, datums, or create a new feature that can substitute my references from part2 so I can keep the hole.

Any ideas?

Add the reference in part 1, create a datum feature (Plane, point etc...) that will allow you to edit the definition of your hole's reference that used to be on part 2.

keep in mind you are creating an external reference tagging from one part to another.

Hello Mike,

Create the datum in part1 first.

Edit definition your hole and replace ALL the references that is driven from part2.

Now you can delete part2 without any problem.

If this couldn't solve please be more specific about your issue.

Regards,
