In sheet metal?

A wall is any section of sheet metal material in your design. You can create two kinds of wall:
Unattached wall—An independent wall that does not need another wall to exist.
Attached wall—Dependent on, at least one other wall.

You can create these types of unattached wall:
Planar
Extrude
Revolve
Boundary Blend
Swept Blend
Sweep
Helical Sweep
Blend
You can create these types of attached wall:
Flat
Flange
Twist

Those are state of geometry preview within the feature creation user-interface.

Attached—Displays the geometry as it appears when you finalize the feature.
Unattached—Displays the outline of the geometry you are defining.
Config option 'dynamic_preview' controls the default preview state.

For better display, Create a solid box and on that create a hole. When creating hole use Attached or Unattached.
