Hide layers by default
Part of our design process requires that the engineers create layout drawings at various stages of the project, these layout drawings describe the design intent and show compliance with internal and external standards ie clearances, vision anlages, tyre envelopes etc
The Engineer doing the drawing may not be responsible for the design of all the components and assemblies on the drawing.
When the Engineer goes to update the drawing they are finding that there are lots of new layers which need hiding in the drawing, these new layers are caused by:
- Legacy parts with incorrect layer naming being added to drawing models
- WIP parts with incorrect layer naming
So the Engineers then need to go through all these new layers and hide them manually to correct their drawing views, in 1 case a layout drawing had 200 layers, with only about 5 of them actually needed for the views.
So what I have been asked to investigate is whether or not their is a way to set all layers to hidden by default and then only have to unhide the required layers? In other CAD packages this was achieved with layer numbers and all numbers in a range could be hidden or shown by default, is it possible to replicate this functionality in Creo, we are wasting many hundreds of hours per year sorting out layers status for these layout drawings.
