Material exploration?

Hello everybody.

Someone can tell me what is the best way to explore different kind of material for a current design?, with design and optimization or with a dynamic analysis.

Actually i am working with a plastic housing (ABS) and i want to explore with new matetrials a different kind of PP with same characteristics.

Juan,

If the new material has the "same characteristics", what are you hoping to get from analysis?  If it has exactly the same properties, the analysis will show the same results...

Are there problems with the existing design / material?  What improvements are you looking for by changing the material?  What is the application, and what are the critical requirements for the part?
