Question

MBD in family tables

Hey guys,

I’m currently experiencing some problems regarding MBD and family table parts…

How do I handle mbd in a family table? For example: I have a shaft with several grooves. The number of grooves is controlled by the family table. I have numbered the cylinders with the original diameter in my generic part, in which all grooves are present, so that I can define them as a common surface for the drawing. How can I now control that, in an instance where, for example, there are no grooves at all, only this one note is displayed in the combined state? In the generic part, I have attached h1-h6 as notes to the surfaces; in the instance, I want only h1 to be displayed. However, if I hide the remaining notes in the instance, they are also hidden in the generic part.

How to handle this situation?

If you provide more information about exactly what you have created, you are likely to get better responses. Post the model with the family table and note what version of Creo you are working in. Regarding the control of part geometry, on face value your description of what you are using the family table for is not something that I would use a family table for. If you provide more context that will likely produce some methods to handle what you are trying to do.
