merge balloons coming from different views/sheets

When merging BOM-balloons that are on different views same sheet, different views on different sheets maybe
is there a need to move the balloons to same view prior to merging them.

In the past (wildfire2.0) we experienced disappearing balloons when not first moving the balloons to the same view prior to merging.

Are there any experiences out there that sort of prove that the move is not needed anymore

What happens to a merged balloon, that was not move, when it is detached?
