Mirror Component Orientation

New Creo 5.0 User

 

I am trying to mirror parts in an assembly.  I have a "box" assembly (in black) with an 'L' bracket (in blue).  I mated the 'L' bracket on one side of the box, now I want to mirror it (about the yellow plane) so a second instance exists on the opposite side of the box.  Instead of positioning it how I want it (in green) it's just translating to the position in red.  How do I fix this?

In another discussion Solved: Re: Creo 5.0 Mirror Multiple Components With One C... - PTC Community the idea came up to do an axis pattern instead of a mirror.  While I wish the mirror functionality in creo was better, this seems to be a suitable workaround for orientation issues (for now).

Are you using mirror component command in your attempt? If not try using that function as shown below.

    Yes, and I should specify not want to create a new part.  I actually have to mirror several components.  Disappointed Creo can't do them all at once.  Doing each one individually for now.  Some parts are mirroring just fine, and others are just "translating".  Also, trying to mirror a pattern of bolts with no success thus far.

    It is hard to diagnose without access to the models, if you can post test models that will expedite things.

     

    Use the "reuse selected model option" to avoid the creation of a new component when mirroring components.

     

    My guess is that for those parts that are translating they may be constrained ambiguously but cannot say for sure without the model to query.

     

    Creo treats circular patterns differently than most CAD systems. Are your bolt patterns circular? If so, that is a different issue and not trivial. I would typically use reference pattern functionality to place fasteners in an assembly.
