Modify library part

I'm using a part from a library that uses family tables. I assembled the part and now I want to modify it. How do I modify the part without it affecting the original Library file?

If you want to make a new part, use the Rename function and select in-session only. You then save the part and the library version is still as it was and the new version, per the rename is saved.

This is also useful if you have drawings and/or assemblies open.

Of course, this is also a trying operation sometimes. Check to make sure you didn't inadvertently overwrite anything important prior to any purge operations.

Just save as that part and replace in assembly with unrelated component and chose that new part or just replace with copy and this will make a separate part from that family member.

Backup of assembly is a good idea just in case.
