Question

Need complex bom

I have an assembly that has a family table in it.
The family table consists of components and sub-assemblies.
The sub-assemblies have more sub-assemblies and components.
And of course the lowest sub-assemblies have components in it.

I need a bill of material that will show all of the main assembly family assemblies,
with all of the sub-assemblies and all of the components for all of the families.

In other words I need it to show everything!!!

Does anyone have a bom that they can share??
I would even take a bom that is just a little complex.
I already have a simple table.

I create a drawing with the top assembly with a standard bom I use.

Then pick table > repeat region > Flat/Rec Item > (pick table) >
rectangle the entire table with your mouse > middle mouse button. You
will see step one of many to make you bom completely recursive. You will
have to keep repeating this until after rectangling - nothing highlights
(that means your done). Keep in mind as you add to your assembly you
will have to revisit this and rectangle again.

The next thing is to paginate into several sheets since it won't all fit
on one. Furthermore you can have several on one sheet and add headers.
You'd have to know how to do this. It's not very intuitive. I have to
relearn it every time I do this.

Having all items assigned parameters makes life easier if its all done
up front. You can also filter out stuff you don't want for any reason.

I primarily use this bom to change parameters in one drawing straight
from the bom.

Maybe there is a simpler way - but this is a neat thing once you
understand it.
