Opening an NX step file with multiple (.) periods in file name Creo View 4

Good Morning,  I am having problems opening files I used to open in Creo View 3.1.   These are files created out of NX and have multiple periods in the file name Example: 23428886.geo_fin001.002999.stp 

For a work around I can change the extra periods to underscores and most files work but not all.   Has anyone else experienced this since upgrading to WC 11 and Creo 4?
