Parameter within Symbol

Can anyone help with creating a symbol that is drawing parameter driven? I have a note with variable text that I would like to drive with a parameter without typing the parameter each time I place the note.

To be specific, I have a revision parameter at the drawing that is Dwg_Rev and I would like it to drive the symbol each time it is placed. Adding the parameter ( &dwg_rev ) does not work similar to notes for symbols. Or so I think.
