Reuse Sub Assy Explode States in a Top Level Assy

Creo Parametric 2.0

I am trying to reuse the explode states I defined in my sub assemblies when exploding the top level assy.  I thought there was a way to do so, but I can't remember how or I'm mistaken.  I may be thinking of style states.  A year away from Creo has taken its toll on my memory of some functions.

Thanks.

(Interestingly, when searching I discovered that I had asked this before, almost 10 years ago, evidently with no response. That or the response was lost in one of the great community migrations of old. 😁)

Looking at the Creo Help file, one would think this should be possible...

Sadly, I have no clue where you can "specify the exploded state to use"... 😭

There seems to be a workaround by using the Default Explode view of the assemblies

There is still no explanation available on how to do this.
I can only explode/unexplode the complete subassembly (so one level down from the assembly I am working on) and not the components of that subassembly.
Current workaround is to move the components of the subassembly in the explode state of the top level assembly.
It is tedious but it works.
It would be nice to have some explanation on how to do what the documentation states can be done.
