Standard Holes & DOWEL holes

Does anyone have any Dowel Pin Hole charts they can share? Unless I use a diamer that matches a standard threaded hole chart, I get an error that IFX cannot find the hole. Since there is no thread involved, I'm not quite sure how to configure a dowel pin hole chart. Dowels have alot more different thread diameters than the regular threaded hole charts.

 

What is the most efficient way to add these holes for use in IFX?

Hi,

 

the most important thing is, that you have to add ALL existing dowel pin diameter to the ifx_pin_data.cfg file. 

 

Then there are two posibilities to get a hole chart for a dowel pin diameter.

 

1. Use the attached PIN*.hol hole charts and set the IFX Options PIN_THREAD_SERIES_* to this values:

  • PIN_THREAD_SERIES_COUNTERBORE PINCB
  • PIN_THREAD_SERIES_THRU PINTHRU
  • PIN_THREAD_SERIES_BLIND PINBLIND

2. Use your own hole charts.

  • IFX use the DN value from your dowel pin fastener data file (*.dat). If the IFX option PIN_DIAMETER_FOR_HOLECHART is set to NOM, then the value from the ifx_pin_data.cfg column NOM is taken.
  • If no P value is specified in you *.dat file, then IFX use the default from the ifx_screw_data.cfg
  • You can differentiate between different *.hol files by using different P values for your dowel pins.
  • Use als can use the IFX_Options PIN_THREAD_SERIES_* to use different *.hol charts for your dowel pins.
  • The diagramm shows how IFX try to get the hole chart. 
    • DN/NOM = BASIC_DIAM
    • P = THREAD
