Question

summary - Export to DWG - ACAD14 - Wildfire5-M020 - "DWG file creation failed."

Summary:
Drawings previously created in WF3 and opened in WF5 containing BOM
balloons could not be saved as AutoCAD14, DWG file format.

Resolution:
Clean region, recreate BOM balloons and the save/export to AutoCAD14 goes
fine.

Hope it helps.

[proecad] - Export to DWG - ACAD14 - Wildfire5-M020 - "DWG file creation
failed."

Hello Pro/Users,

Before placing a call with PTC support I want to see maybe I can get my
fix from this great forum.

Problem:
When Pro/E drawing is saved or exported as a DWG file in AutoCAD14 the
save operation does not succeed and an error message appears.
We noticed that this happens when the drawing contains BOM balloons.

Error Message:
"DWG file creation failed."

Temporary solution:
We save in Autocad2000 and the export is successful.

Permanent fix (we really need the AutoCAD14 format since a lot of our
vendors are requiring it):
?

Any thoughts, fixes?

Thank you in advance!

I know, I know, I'm having the same discussion without success over and
over...
I'm assuming this happens because small fabricators/manufacturers which
cannot afford an AutoCAD 2000/2007/2010 license...
So our standard save is Autocad14.

As it happens, I just had an issue today where a machine shop needed a
file in DXF for autocad ver 12(!) for the conversational control on
their wire EDM machine.

Their complaint was that the 2D spline curve I sent them was coming in
as polylines. I explained that v12 DXF will always do this...

You may find this as well. Many machines with 'Windows' interfaces are
being used now. We have a machine that still uses NT!
