Hi AllI have one user out of6 with IsoDraw + CaD Process 7.1 m050 who keeps getting a lost license error. We're running a license server for all PTC licenses and don't see errors with anyone else so I think its something with his install or PCHave checked the log files and Windows event manager, tested his network connection and see no errorsIts a Windows 7 32bit machineHas anyone else seen this and can maybe give me a few pointers
Hi,New user here, I have lots of questions, and I welcome pointers to existing resources.I have Arbortext 6, Windhill 10, new to DITA and SMA.I am working on test files, a basic SMA map with a few short topic types inserted. If I want to refer to one model number in several of the mapped topics, what do I reference and how to reference it? I seem to be missing something.I tried entering a value for the modelno in the SMA map; then, from a topic in the map, attempt to conref or xref to the modelno in the smamap, but the modelno does not show up in the Resource Manager as available to reference.Where am I going wrong? Thanks!Lisa A

Hi all,We create documents using Arbortext Editor and css with Syler and have a request to have tables in PDF with rounded corner. The quick way we are trying is just create a rounded rectangle SVG and use that as a background to the content, putting the table in front of it. It is easy but not seems to be the WAY...Also we think on creating the table as a Scalable Vector Graphics(SVG) object, and include that as an external-image in our XML document. SVG supports rounded corners, and XML supports SVG. It seems to add more complexity...So we are searching the WAY as an specific or modified function on the Styler to programe the CCS to publish directly rounded corner tables. Does anybody know if it is possible and/or whow to do it?Thank you!!!!
My company is beginning an Arbortext implementation so I am exploring ways to convert Pagemaker and InDesign files to Arbortext. I'm looking for some advice on the best approach as well as any software recommendations. Thanks in advance,Tim
Hi,I'm trying to code a field name index based on the element <field> withchild <field_name>. I've made "custom" indexes before, but only in FOSI. Thedoctype already has an element based "standard" index (<indexterm><primary<br/>...).I can output the field index contents only if I do not set userule="2". WhenI do that, it fails. Am I just missing something or is there a limitationI'm not aware of when using a .style rather than a FOSI in this regard?-- Paul Nagai
Hi all,I have a custom XSD and am I styling for PDF using the APP engine in Editor 6.0 M10.I am looking for a way to store things like numbering and other context related information in attributes. An example of this would be storing the font family and size as it is applied by the stylesheet in the attributes of the element being styled. This will mean that an external system which receives the XML data would be able to tell that a title was "printed" in a certain font and size.I have had a look at using xpath in genetated text, but have not been able find a logical solution. I assume one would need to capture the generated text for numbering in some sort of variable and then write that variable's value into the attribute of the relevant element.I would appreciate a pointer in the right direction. Thanks,Duan
Hi All,Yes, Hal Trent gave a presentation on our catalog developments at the PTC World conference this year (2011).The conference slides are at skype joannhackos[Comtech-Logo]
We are new users of Arbortext 6.0 and Windchill 10, and are using the SMA application for our product manuals. As far as using graphics in our SMA topics, would it be better to put our graphics into a library in Windchill, then insert them into our Arbortext SMA topics, or to create an SMA Reference topic that is essentially a library of graphics, then insert conrefs to the graphics in that "library" topic? Thanks,Lisa A
Hi All,When using the document map in AE 5.4, I thought that there used to be a way(shortcut key?) in older versions of Arbortext to collapse a entire 'level'of a document (not the whole doc), rather than trying to do it using theselect 'all' in the tags dialog box of 'Collapse / Expand Divisions.' Case in point - (large docs of 1000+ pgs) After I do some raw XML editingand update the doc, it reopens with every single tag expanded fully(arrggh). Which means that, to again make it reasonably manageable fornormal navigating, I've got to manually go through it and close down thesections until it is organized in a less user 'hostile' way (by Chapter andWork Packages). Didn't there used to be a way that you could do some mouse or keyboardaction over the vertical lines of the doc map and close it down by 'levels'rather than by discrete tag names? Curious - maybe I'm just engaging in a little late summer, Labor Day Friday, daydreaming with this one. But if anyone has any appropriate tips/trick
Or have you executed some other strategy for trapping, reviewing, and thensending the messages Editor creates for the conversation with PE?-- Paul Nagai
I'm using Arbortext Editor with Styler 5.3 M130. I am looking for info on configuring the tri-pane HTML output from Arbortext Editor (File > COmpose > for Web), and I'm not finding much. Where would be a good place to find out how to do things like the following:- Split up XML topics into HTML pages- Getting the left-pane TOC to work (it's blank except for a non-working search box)Are these Styler items? DCF config items? Something else? Thanks,Mark
Adepters,Is there a simple way to run Editor in batch mode to perform a complete composition task silently?I've used something like this before to get a quick print: editor -c "print allpasses force wait" myfile.xmlbut what I really want is to be able to specify a profile to be used and to compose to PDF.We have Arbortext 5.3/6.0 and use a Publishing Engine. Thanks,Martin BushbyKongsberg Maritime
I edit graphics after inserting JPGs in Arbortext documents. When I reload the modified graphic, I always get an annoying viewer which I have to close before being asked to insert and seeing the new graphic. Is ther a way to shut off this automatic viewer?I checked Advanced Preferences but did not find the option. Is there a command line option? I use Arbortext 5.3.Thanks - Mike
Oops, I meant SGML to XML not vice versa. The idea should work either way, if it works.
How to convert sgml dtd to xml dtd.Are there any tools to make this converision?
Good afternoon.I use a version of Arbortext IETP Services Version 4.4 M010 (006)In this version I have problems with links to hotspots in the legend. With the latest version they have changed.I have more than a week trying to understand the mechanism of how they work. And I had a few questions. Maybe someone knows or knowssomeone who can answer me this question.Firstly the file figurePanel.jspxFor legends exist the following code<lbs: translate id = "translatedLegend"xml = "# {figure.currentFigure.legend}" pub = "# {index.selectedPub}"xsl = "# {index.styleSheetPath}" isoview = "# {index.iso}"dir = "# {index.directory}" />As used index.styleSheetPath descriptSchema.xslIn descriptSchema.xsl imported a lot of styles. The question of what piece of coderesponsible for processing the tag XREF. I used to have style xref.xslNow what happened to him that without him. If anyone has information on this issue.I would be very grateful.Andrey Golovatyuk
I just upgraded to Arbortext 6.0 M010. We use Distiller to generate PDF files. In an ACL I have the set usedistiller = on andset pdfprinter = "Adobe PDF". In Arbortext 5.x when I had the usedistiller option set to "on" the option to select a publishing config file would go away or at least be disabled. In 6.0 it is still an active option. Is there anyway to disable this? I've checked the DCF but haven't had any luck. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hello Adepters,I wrote a function to wrap/unwrap a range in a special element. To wrap the range I use the range function range.surroundContents(element). To unwrap an element I replace the wrapped range by the actual range. Now in the function if I don’t turn track changes off the whole range is marked as added which I don’t want. If in the wrap/unwrap function I turn track changes off I lose all track changes I had in the actual range. How do I wrap/unwrap a range in anew element without losing track changes?Thanks,-Samah
Is version 7.2 available for IsoDraw CADProcess? Is it difficult to get the update?
Hello all, I am working on setting up PE 5.4 M100 on a dev server to begincomposition testing. I have several custom SGML DTDs and FOSIs that I have recompiled for5.4, and a few custom XML DTDs with FOSI stylesheets. Since I had 5.3 running on this server (using Tomcat 5.5), I installedthe 1.6 JRE and Tomcat 6 (the distro from the media), then PE. I got everything to come up fine, but I cannot get my custom doctypes toshow up under the composition information. I checked the DCOM config for the service account we run PE under, everything's fine there. Set APTPATH to point to the 5.4 install tree, and set my APTCUSTOM to point at the custom directory containing mycustom doctypes (under the doctype directory, with a catalog file at theroot). I restart PE, it comes up fine, but when I open the index page and checkthe composition information, under the doctypes it lists the localdoctypes for the PE install tree but no custom doctypes from theAPTCUSTOM path. I looked through the help files for
Now, in order to capture the HOST ID (used to be Server ID, I think, withthe old licensing application), you run cpu_id.exe (be sure to pick theright one for your architecture ... there is an x86 and an x64 version) anytime you want. It is not wrapped inside of the now old License Administratorwhich means you can execute it before an install. This makes even the longer(and somewhat variable although in my limited number 6.0 license requestseven that seems to have stabilized) return time on a Flexera license moot... if you're able to plan even just a little ahead.Specifically, you can run cpu_id.exe on a server well before a plannedinstall window, or even have IT do it if you don't have hands-on, and stillgenerate a license file to be rolled up with the installation itself.Similarly, you can distribute the cpu_id.exe to a set of users ahead of aninstall window and generate all of the licenses once you have everyone'sHOST ID ... in one session with the license app on ptc.com.-- Paul Naga
Hi all,I just ran into a hiccup installing / configuring a Publishing Engine 6.0m010 server. Apparently one or more of our PE licenses is/are floatinglicenses which require a license server to host them. Apparently a phonecall with licensing (too late today) on Monday is all it will take toconvert the licenses from floating to fixed. (Support was a little confusedregarding why they would be floating ... and, in fact, I *think* some are, some aren't.)This came as a surprise to me because in the < 6.0 world, we have alwaysinstalled our PE licenses as fixed ... directly on each server. (We arerunning a license server for our floating Print Composer licenses but havenot used it for anything else.)I *could* install a license server for the 6.0+ world however it is not howwe want or intend to run (why add a moving part?) so I am hoping to avoid it... especially as I go into our vulnerability assessment.FWIW: It took 13 minutes for the Flexera licenses to generate and arrive ine-mail.-- Pau
Adepters:We're using AE 5.4 M100 in a system that uses XIncludes extensively in elements similar to topic maps with nested topics (but NOT DITA). If I ensure that the document referenced by an XInclude is writable (that is, I look at the status with Windows Explorer and verify that it is not read-only), and then open the parent container element that is not writable, I'm having limited success. Of 5 machines I've tested on (3 XP and 2 W7) only one of the XP machines allows me to edit the referenced XInclude element. In all of the other cases, AE says that the XIncluded content is read-only. In fact, I have two of the XP machines set up side-by-side with identical environments, and one allows me to edit the XIncluded content and the other does not. The only way I can edit the XIncluded content consistently is if I also make the parent or container document writable. This is not desirable. So, this one has me stumped. It reminds me of a problem we had years ago when we used file entities
