Gee, I go out of town for a couple days, and see what happens?? 🙂Thanks for everyone who responded on the rules topic. I am reading through the responses but I think the gist of the discussion is:1. People agree that everyone ought to follow the rules. My main concern in making the posting was to remind people to not post the off-topic messages--these really get annoying, even if they are well-intentioned.2. We have differing thoughts on the posting guidelines. Personally, I don't mind if everything gets posted to the exploder because everyone gets a copy of the discussion that way. As I stated, item four in my original posting is more of a suggestion rather than a hard rule. However, I also understand that people get frustrated when they get a full inbox of exploder messages. I have a filter setup on my account to route all of the discussions into a folder so I don't lose them. I highly recommend using filters with your Outlook (or other client) software--this is a really useful techn
So in other words, you want some of the rules but only the ones youagree with? When you sign on to the exploder, these rules are spelledout distinctly. In all walks of society, we have to abide by rules. As aEuropean, I find the affected "horror" over Janet Jackson and the"nipplegate" incident faintly amusing but would I let my wife on thebeach topless, I don't think so - because the "rules" in the USA don'tallow it. (As and aside, if my wife wanted to go topless, I would haveABSOLUTELY no say in it anyway). So we have to abide by the rules setfor whatever we're doing otherwise we'd have everybody doing their ownthing which is precisely what Rick - in his extremely nice way - istrying to avoid. One would hope that these rules have been carefullythought out and are of benefit to all but IF a change is warranted, let's get them changed by mutual consent and not by mavericks breakingthem.Richard

Experts and expert wantabes: I am trying to create a unilateral profile.Pro even goes through the motions, but it doesn't create the phantom line required by ASME Y14.5M-1994.Am I missing something? This use to work.I'm using Pro 2001 Code 2004090
All, First off, thanks again for a quick and accurate response from thiscommunity. The overwhelming answer I received was that Pro uses the letter "G"exclusively for gravitational constant. Most of the responses suggested using a modified version (such as G_ orGG) which is what I'll end up doing, but it's not as clean as I wouldlike it to be. Thanks again,Dave

Thanks to all who responded... the general consensus was that severalcompanies ARE sharing across borders, and that several others have been toldthey can't by PTC. Suggestions were also made to the fact that PTCshouldn't be able to restrict this... Seems like the standard inconsistencyof PTC sales division. No one had the Package history for 2004.
Hello,Is there a way to know if exists a pending RTP on a given PIV?I found no method for this, except PDMRTPGetList() that accept an OQL object, but I can't understand how to write OQL query to link the PIV with its RTPs even watching at Object Flow Data Diagram and related additions.I tried also with NULL_HPDMOQL as oql, but the subsequent call to PDMCursorGetNext() crashes (stack overflow)Thanks in advance.-Stefano
Associates, I have a user that wants to insert a special symbol into editable symbol text (2001). The way we currently do this is to select the note (symbol), RMB and select properties, locate the appropriate variable text in the properties box, open the symbol pallette and then insert the required special character into the variable text line. An easier way to edit the same text line is by using the edit-value command. However the special symbol pallette does not appear when using this option. Does anyone know of a better method? Is there some sort of option somewhere to have the special symbol pallette appear when using the "edit-text"command? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Dave

We are redoing our FTP server, and in doing so, we are wondering what this group does for hardware, and structure of the folders, bestpractices, etc. Here's my list of questions: (please reply and put your answers belowthe questions...thx!) 1. Do you consider your FTP capability mission critical? 2. What class of hardware do you use? (for example: Server, workstation, PC) 3. Do you use new hardware? or legacy/retired hardware to serve FTP?(for example, do you refresh your FTP server box every 36/48 months? Or as needed, and use retiredhardware? 4. What is your folder structure? (for example: In/out/pub or other?) 5. Follow up question#1: If you use the common in/out/pub folderstructure, do you allow your users to create folders in the outdirectory? 6. Follow up question #2: If you use a different folder structure, canyou describe it below? 7. Do you use blind naming? 8. Do your external customers use this FTP site? or do you just use itfor intra company data sharing? 9. Follow
Date: Tue, 9 Nov 2004 14:03:39 -0500 Thanks for all the quick replies! The tools available on the PTC web page can be downloaded from the techsupport web page at the same location you would download / order softwareupdates for ProE.Go to: http://www.ptc.com/cgi/cs/apps/SftUpd/SftUpdProd.pllook for: WEB TOOLS - PRO/ENGINEER WILDFIRE 2.0 LOCAL EDITION underPro/Engineer.
Does anyone know if the menu mapper tool and other tools available onPTC's web page at http://www.ptc.com/community/proewf2/newtools/index.htmcan be downloaded anywhere? There are a number of tools that PTC has available on the web for transitioning from ProE2001 to Wildfire 2.0, butonly a very limited number of my users have internet access. I'd like tomake some of those tools available via an internal web page. Thanks,Erik GiffordG.W. Lisk Co., Inc.
