Hello,

I'm struggling to calculate moment frame construction using finite element method. Could somebody help me with a useful link to a similar mathcad worksheet?

Sincerely,

Victor

Search this forum for "finite element"

Also visit here:

http://www.gundermann.dk/mathcad/finelem.htm

There is also an electronic book, "finite element beginnings" that is part of the Mechanical Engineering Library from Mathsoft:

Have a look at the beam structural analysis worksheet contained in the DynamAssist Handbook. This can be downloaded from the Mathcad website and I think this may do what you want.

Hi Ian,
Can you please tell me what the variables gamma,alpha, Damping C and Delta T are in your Beam example. I pressume "A" and "J" are the area and torsional constant.

Thanks,

Tonymac

Hi Tony
I should have put a bit more explanatory text in the worksheet. You are right about A and J.
If you take a look in the 'Static analysis calculations' area in the worksheet there is a bit more explanation.

The other values you asked about are:
gamma = rotation of element about its own axis(there is a diagram showing this in the User Manual area).
alpha = thermal expansion coefficient
delta T = temperature difference
C = damping coefficient
