Question

Mathcad 12 will not start

I purchased and installed Mathcad Prime 12. However, I now understand that, because I am using a Dutch Windows 11 OS, Mathcad does not start. First of all, I find it unbelievable that PTC does not mention this very clearly beforehand, but that you are only confronted with this after purchasing. What really makes matters worse is that, although you start from and with the English website, you are redirected during the installation process to a Korean website, which is unreadable. So now I am stuck with a Mathcad version that I paid for and for which the 1-year period has already started, but which I cannot use. I would like this situation to be resolved ASAP.

I suggest you download Prime 11 and install that. Your license for Prime 12 may allow to also licensed use of Prime 11. If not, you can apply for the 30-day trial of it. That should get you going and hopefully beyond the point where the (really stupid!) problem with Prime 12 is solved.

The only thing is that you will have to uninstall prime 12 before you can install Prime 11 (Prime versions can coexist on the same machine, but only be installed in successive order). After installation of prime 11 you can install Prime 12 again. No need to uninstall prime 11.

One option is to add US English (or other acceptable language) to Windows via Settings/Time and Language.  With this as the preferred option Prime 12 will run.  For anything else you could switch back to your native language (or just stick with US English, which is what I do).  Each switch requires a restart, so it’s annoying, but at least it will allow you to use the Prime 12 you’ve paid for.
