Please find in the attachment full version of product calendar on the current date. And here are notes (glossary of terms can be found in the end of calendar):

Mathcad-specific terms, footnotes, and definitions:

1. Mathcad 15.0 will remain on Standard Support at least until the release of Mathcad Prime 5.0

2. The currently available release of Mathcad Prime will always be on Standard Support

3. Mathcad 15.0 will remain on Sustained Support for a period of two years after the end of its Standard Support period.

4. Each version of Mathcad Prime will be on Sustained Support for a period of two years after the subsequent version of Mathcad Prime is released.

Thank for the information. So it looks like we're not going to see Prime 4.0 this year after all and it also seems MP4 will not be upto M15 standard.

Interesting find, Vladimir.

Especially as its P3.1 F000 and not P3 M010.

An image repair version?

Right, I noticed that too. But why version 3.1? Unclear.

No. In my first post was not a hint of a joke.

I wonder if we are likely to hear anything from PTC on it? What does this mean for Prime 4.0, why the delay?

I tried several months to get information on the next upgrade. PTC said the Prime 4.0 would be coming out in the fall. They also did not provide any upgrade information. I feel like I have been paying for their software improvements with out any benefits to me. Does anyone have any idea what PTC is up to? Still using MathCAD15.

No David I do not believe anyone on here is in the loop. This came as a surprise to most of us.

So, Mr. McGough held this 45-minute session at the PTC Live Global event a few weeks ago: "PTC116 PTC Mathcad Product Update and Roadmap"

http://liveglobal.ptc.com/Learn.aspx

Was no one there to share with the rest of us (who didn't pay $1400 to attend) or did PTC require they sign an NDA??

What $1,400 - PTC should hang their heads in shame. Maybe I was wrong about thieves this is paramount to straight forward extortion. Do PTC pass the duck test? If it they look like a duck, swims like a duck, and quack like a duck, then they are probably are a duck. Maybe the major new feature in Mathcad Prime 4 is a price rise and maybe Mr. McGough needed the 45 minutes to try to persuade the audience to keep paying their maintenance. After all, they were stupid enough to pay $1,400 to listen PTC's flim flam. But maybe I am stupid one for wasting my time in writing this stuff because I am afraid nothing will change. We should demand McGough to tell us what is happing - what is the Mathcad Prime road map and upcomming features, if any? If he doesn't answer these questions then like the rest of PTC he should go to hell in a handbasket.

Some new updates about Prime 3.1 can be found in the following blog post:

http://blogs.ptc.com/2014/07/24/enhanced-ptc-creo-and-ptc-mathcad-integration/

http://blogs.ptc.com/tag/ptc-mathcad-prime-3-1/product/mathcad/

Quote:

"In PTC Mathcad Prime 3.1 we will be introducing a new, enhanced integration between PTC Creo and PTC Mathcad. PTC Creo 3.0 M020 users will have the ability to embed a PTC Mathcad Prime 3.1 worksheet directly within their model. This PTC Mathcad worksheet can be opened directly from inside the model view and then edited and saved within the model itself. In this embedded use case, the Mathcad worksheet is stored within the part or assembly it supports thus removing the need to control and manage two different files. This embedded PTC Mathcad worksheet can be used as an ad-hoc scratch pad to derive off the cuff calculations or as the source for specific geometry calculations for the model. It can also be used to document engineering knowledge directly associated with the model itself – including company IP or regulatory information. Again, all this information in the PTC Mathcad worksheet is saved and accessed from within the PTC Creo model. This means that where the model goes, the engineering knowledge goes too."...

... "Look out for a follow up post with more details on PTC Mathcad Prime 3.1.".

Absolutely ridiculous. Why on earth are PTC wasting resources on Creo integration when Prime is close to useless?

Mike;

PTC just don't have a clue about the needs of their extant users. I agree - why on earth would they be wasting their time on features that in most cases are of little use to engineers. Mathcad is an engineering tool and is therefore of no use to most Creo drafters. From my experience most drafters don't have the necessary background in math to be able to use such a tool. AutoCad has a built in calculator and this is all most drafters need or want. If Mathcad Prime 4.0 dosen't deliver our engineering needs then all should withold maintenance until they do. Or may the PTC management are big fans of Dire Straits "Get your money for nothin' get your chicks for free" . All I can say is that if Mathcad Prime 4 doesn't deliver on its promises then PTC is indeed in "dire straits".

Well I have just spoken to our re-seller and they claimed they do not know anything about Prime 3.1. They are still waiting for information on Prime 4.0.

Whatever this may tell us about PTC's selling politics.

Even the re-sellers have the opinion that Prime cannot be classed as a replacement for Mathcad 15 and don't even try to 'sell' the product.

From my understanding and talking with the PMs at PTC Live 3.1 is the start of adding back in the APIs. also this give more ability to perhaps use Mathcad sheets for the relations and Pro Program.

For which programs though? From what has been posted on this forum it seems that 3.1 will concentrate on compatibility with Creo.

Did you hear anything else at tje PTC Live regarding the future on Mathcad?

They are working to get most of hte API stuff back into MP4. THings like web controls have been asked for by lots of customers. Those are one that i asked about anyway. Those are the ones my users need to move forward.

What remains interesting in MP series ??? Only a matter of the names 3.1 or 4.0 ...

It will be the same crap anyway

No one refers anymore to the worst of MP series; and especially the ability of real converting old MC documents...
PTC continues devouring us - and continue playing with changing names -
We have no choice but to continue to use MC 15 u
ntil someone else will fill the gap left by PTC ...

Very sad indeed - SHEMY.

We are still waiting to hear PTC's intention wioth the next release of Prime. What has been muted is that they will relase Prime 3.1 with additional Prime - Creo functionality, which is of no use for the majopirty of Mathcad users. I have not seen the new revised relase date for Prime 4.0

Many in this forum have speculated that PTC have in mind a different product positioning for Prime than for MC15, and have no intention of reproducing all the capabilities of MC15. If that divergence really is the case, then they should KEEP MC15 GOING, since they could continue to sell it, even without Prime, to scientific, mathematical and advanced technology users. They would have to keep its current functions intact in the face of evolving Windows over the coming years, but that's a relatively small effort. Probably few or no new features for MC15, though, since a recent PTC posting suggested that it has become a old, creaky platform.

I don't believe it is PTC's intention to keep M15. AT the moment they have no choice as Prime is missing so many features. They have just confirmed that they will be retiring all support for versions 11-13.

I have used Mathcad as my primary computational tool for over 25 years, and I installed Prime 3.0 a couple of weeks ago with anticipation, even though I had read comments about it in this forum. But what a huge disappointment!

Prime is rife with poor design, making it awkward and very time-consuming to use. Some things familiar from Mathcad 15 just can't be done, and its graphs alone make one's best work look amateurish. Worse, it is sluggish and very slow to respond to any input, from page up/down to keystrokes in a text box. That unresponsiveness seems fundamental, the sort of problem that will persist into future versions. And it crashes, too.

It has taken me these two weeks to give up on Prime. But not on MC15, of course. Like so many other forum users, I need it to continue. I DON'T want to be forced into Matlab - it is sophisticated and works well, but it is essentially just a programming package.

Yes Jim it is disappointing. I was very optimistic when Prime was announced, but having seen the lack of development from Prime 1.0 to Prime 3.0, I don't hold much optimism for the future.

Let's hope they improve Prime to a useable level before Mathcad 15 starts to struggle with the later Windows releases.
