Mcad 14 not working after motherboard replacement

Even though you replaced the motherboard with the same model, the system's unique hardware IDs, such as the MAC address (of the network adapter) or potentially the hard drive volume serial number, have likely changed, invalidating the license.

1. License is Tied to Hardware ID: Mathcad 14's license file, often named license.dat, is typically locked to a unique hardware identifier. Even an identical model motherboard can have a different MAC address.

2. Verify the License Host ID:

   • Find your Mathcad license file (license.dat). Open it with a text editor like Notepad. Look for an entry similar to HOSTID=PTC_HOSTID=XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX. This is the hardware ID your license is bound to.

   • Compare this to your current hardware ID(s). To check your current MAC address(es), open the Windows Command Prompt (search for cmd) and type ipconfig /all. Look for the "Physical Address" under your Ethernet or Wi-Fi adapter. If the addresses don't match, that's the cause.

3. Contact PTC Support (or a VAR): Since the hardware ID has changed, you will need a new license file from PTC (the developer of Mathcad). They are the only ones who can generate a license file tied to your new hardware ID.
