Hey everyone! I was wondering if we could start a list of companies and products that are made here in the Houston area using PTC software. The purpose of this is to show how PTC supports the creation of a diverse portfolio of products in our area that we can highlight during future GHPUG meetings. Hi everyone, my name is Geoffrey Baxter. I'm a 12-year PTC veteran and resident of the greater Houston metro area. I, along with Tim Cooper, will be leading the Greater Houston PTC User Group. We would like to get the group up and running again on whatever scale we can, and we will be reaching out to you soon to get your opinions on how we can best do this. In the meantime, I'd like to introduce myself and give you all the opportunity to do the same.   I began using PTC products in 2004 as a mechanical design intern at a small company in Provo, UT, beginning with Pro/E Wildfire 2. I was transferred to a sister company a few months later, and after a pair of acquisitions, I became a National Oilwell Varco employee, working for NOV IntelliServ, an oil/gas drilling technology company. During my time at IntelliServ, I graduated from BYU with a BSME.   A little over a year after I graduated, I had the opportunity to transfer do a different division of NOV to work on oil/gas drill

And for those in the United States have a great Labor Day on Monday.  There once was a young engineer, who having worked for several years, decided that he and his family should have a weekend getaway place. He searched the surrounding country, and found a lovely spot with frontage on a small river. They built a cabin, and began spending time there every chance they got. The kids loved it, and friends came for the quiet and fishing.   The engineer, however, wanted something unique for his cabin. He had been an award-winning pole vaulter in college. He therefore built a set of poles with a crosspiece, and a mulched run. He bought a new carbon fiber vaulting pole, new shoes, and was set. He would set off down the run, plant his pole, soar over the crosspiece, and land in the river with a satisfying splash. What a great way to spend a hot afternoon. How can I make modifications to an existing BOM table? I have a long list of part for an assembly and I have to keep adding parts as I go forward. I have used paginate to split the table into 2 separate tables on page 1 of my drawing. The problem is that when I add more parts the table will add the parts to the second page. If I add a segment to the first page of the BOM it adds the segment as a separate table and won't connect it to the original table. How do I expand the table and keep it as a complete segment instead of a bunch of little separate segments? What is the best way to keep making modifications to a BOM table on an existing drawing?

There are many situations where documents need to incorporate information stored in a database. A simple approach is to generate a report of the data from the database, and then copy and paste the data into the document. Unfortunately, that approach tends to be labor-intensive and error-prone, and can easily lead to out-of-sync documents if the database is updated but the document is not.   To make the process of embedding data in documents easier, Arbortext Editor and Publishing Engine support Data Merge, a framework for embedding data queries in your documents and for formatting the data results for publishing.   Data merge lets you set up query types tailored to your database. When a query is inserted into a document, it pulls current data from the database to complete the document. I installed Creo 3 today for testing on a computer for one of my users.  They started it up and got the below image.So what do you think the black spot at the bottom of the picture is?  They say it's a coffee cup that is on a laptop but I'm not so sure.  What do you think?If it is a coffee cup the why the heck would someone put liquid ON a computer?  And why would PTC promote that?

Legal publishing uses a lot of attributes, and CCH publications are some of the richest legal reporting available. When we converted to SGML nine years ago, one of the first things our users requested was a way to modify attributes globally outside the Arbortext Editor Modify Attributes dialog. Often they have been required to open XML files in Notepad, or Edit as XML Source to change attributes in large files, which led to error and was very time-consuming. The project got on the schedule in 2007, and we started the initial analysis, starting with what language to write the tool in, and how to create the interface.   Because this tool requires a good deal of querying the DTD, we decided to write it in ACL. The interface requirements included making it impossible for a user to create invalid XML. For example, the tool needed to remove #FIXED attributes from the attribute list, and, if the user wanted to delete attribute values, the tool needed to remove #REQUIRED attributes from t
