According to CIO Magazine, “as many as 71% of software projects that fail do so because of poor requirements management, making it the single biggest reason for project failure”. Is your company best-in-class when it comes to managing product requirements?   This session explored common challenges and best practices for managing requirements in Windchill environments. Attendees also learned how Windchill customers can manage requirements in Integrity Lifecycle Manager and trace them directly to their product data in order to create a single source of truth for rich requirements data that can be linked to products or parts throughout the product lifecycle.

Within the US Army, there was a need to take legacy technical documentation of multiple formats including 40051 and 13784 DTD's, and repurpose for use as work instructions for shop floor applications. Using Service information Manager, APE, and some configuration, we allowed non-technical authors to reconfigure, and selectively build small work instructions from massive volumes of information. Using the power of  Windchill's associativity, estimated times to update these work instructions have gone from months to hours.

This session discuss how the LDS Church is using Windchill FlexPLM in a unique way to manage its global publishing products.   Investing in a product life management solution is a large undertaking, especially when you have to rethink how to use a system designed for color and fabrics, and modify it to track and manage publications and languages.   The presenter walked attendees through the LDS Church’s implementation of Windchill FlexPLM to support their global publishing products. The presenter also shared the challenges LDS Church faced, its implementation strategy, the vision and the experience.

In this demonstration, we explore a series of steps that can be used to create a title cover page images comprised of a continuous tone image (Photograph) and lineart. This technique is ideally suited for title cover page illustrations for a technical manual or publication. This type of technique was utilized in the 1950s-1970s where illustrators created lineart images on clear acetate on top of airbrush retouched photographic images to improve the visual impact of the image.   We will explore the basic operations involved with combining projections to create enhanced lineart images.  After completing this demonstration, we will understand the advantages of associativity, be able to access the Image browser and apply an associative link to to 3-D CAD solid models. Next we will apply colors to selected assemblies, parts and apply 3-D projections to convert the 3-D data to a 2-D illustration. I saw in the role out of Creo 4.0 that they are improving model based annotations (since we don't need drawings anymore). Drawings wouldn't consume so much time if you didn't make it harder and harder to do drawings.PTC Creo 4.0..eagerly waiting for you!
