In Gainsight Communities

Accepted Solutions

Now called Best Answers. We encourage original authors to continue marking the reply that best resolves their question—especially on our support boards.

Kudos

Now called Likes. The Community Team is retiring the kudo terminology. "Likes" can be used to show support or agreement with a post.

Labels

Now called Tags.

• "Tags" are predefined by the Community Team
• Tag subscriptions are not currently available
• Gainsight plans to introduce enhancements in future roadmap updates

Videos (Community Platform Hosted)

Gainsight Communities cannot host uploaded videos directly.

• All existing videos are being migrated to secure internal PTC servers
• The Community Team will manually re-add your videos into posts upon request or as soon as we are able post launch. 

Videos (Preferred Browser Hosting)

You can embed links from your preferred video platforms (e.g., Vimeo or YouTube) directly into your community posts.

Common File Attachments

Standard file attachments such as pdf .zip, .xml, .txt, .csv, .doc/docx, .xls/xlsx, .ppt/pptx .wmv and .mp4 will continue to be supported as usual.

PTC Software–Specific File Types

For product‑specific file types (e.g., Mathcad or Creo formats), files must now be zipped before uploading. Members can download and open these files on their own devices.

Community Subscriptions

You can still subscribe to conversations you start or participate in; however:

• All existing subscriptions will be disconnected during migration.
• You will need to resubscribe to your favorite boards.
• Tag subscriptions (previously “Labels”) are not currently supported.

“My Friends List” or Following Members

The "Follow" feature now serves as a simple profile bookmark.

• Following someone does not affect your feed or notifications
• Users can choose to receive private messages only from members they follow

Community Badges

All your existing community badges  will transfer to the new platform.

• Gainsight does not automatically award new “Give or Receive Likes (Kudos)” badges
• Both “Give and Receive Kudos” badge series (gold and blue image  below) → are now retired
• The Community Team will continue recognizing Top Encouragers and Most Kudos Achieved (Most Likes) annually

Community Ranks

Community Ranks

The PTC Community Ranks program is moving to Gainsight with a few backend updates.

• The algorithm powering rank progression will differ slightly
• Your rank may shift slightly up or down
• Earning Likes, receiving Best Answers, and creating new posts all contribute to your ranking and leaderboard point status. 

Private Messages

Private messages in the Khoros Platform will not be carried over to your new Gainsight Community Account. Please plan accordingly for anything you wish to save. No ability to add attachments currently, but images can be copied and pasted into the messages.
