Hi there!

When I attempt to open the program up, it fails to run b/c it states that it could not run the Quality Agent and if I call tech support to report an error 6. I thought tech support was open 24 hours but no joy on that. Any ideas, or should I just try in the morning? Thank you!!

Try disabling quality agent reports during instalation of Creo and after you are done with the instalation uninstall only the PTC quality agent from your system.

I have the same issue as this, has anyone found a fix?

    March 13, 2012

    Mark,

Sorry you're having the problem. I have seen this one time in the past and I was able to fix it by

using the Windows Control Panel to uninstall the Quality Agent and then reinstalling Creo using (using C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 1.0\Parametric\bin\ptcsetup.bat).

Note that I did not recopy files, re-license or configure, I just stepped though the install so that the Quality Agent would be reinstalled and connected.

Please let us know if this helps.

    Regards,

    Adam

I tried what you suggested and it didnt work for me. I have however now got it working.

All I did was a complete re-install, I had already tried doing this before I began looking for help but it didnt work. All I changed this time around was I let the install manager pick the install directory. With my initial install I had changed it to a different HDD not the one my OS is installed on (which was what the install manager wanted to put it in). Everything ran first go with the new install on C: and I'm currently using Creo.

I can't see why using a different partition/HDD on the same machine would have caused this issue (thats if it was infact the issue), maybe its something that was completely random and I just got lucky on this re-install. Maybe its something for the Creo Dev's to look into?

Thanks for the suggestion and help Adam, reading that and seeing the C:\Program Files is probably what made me think to just let it install where ever it wanted and see if it works.

I had the same issue, but it appears I found a fix. First, I uninstalled the Quality Agent using "Uninstall a program" under the control panel. Next, I searched C:\Program Files\PTC for "Quality." I found two results. The important one was qualityagent_32_64.msi under C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 1.0\Common Files\M030\install\addon. Opening this file allows you to install the Quality Agent again. After doing this, the program worked for me. I hope this helps.

    Hi James,

Thank you for the reply. That is a work around for the issue. We are investigating the error and will be addressing this in the next maintenance release of Creo 1.0. Thank you for your diligence in finding the above mentioned procedure.

    Procedures:

    1) Uninstall Quality Agent from the Add/Remove Programs in the control panel

    2) Install qualityagent_32_64.msi from C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 1.0\Common Files\M030\install\addon

    3) Start Creo 1.0 Parametric

    Hi Mark,

I tried the method you suggested and still got an error. Here's a creen recording of the method. Let me know if I made any errors in following your directions. One thing I did notice was that in your instructions it states to go to M030 but all I had was M020. Is that maybe the issue that is causing all of this. Thanks for your help. Oh by the way. the video is less than 2 minutes plus you can fast forward thru it if you like. Thanks again and have a great day!! Video Link : 2672

    Hi all,

I installed Creo schools edition today and encounted the exact same issues as Victor, my install folder is also M020 rather than M030 as described in the previous post. I will be following this thread closely I hope a fix is available.

    Hi Matthew,

I am working with Victor to diagnose the issue. BTW.....do you have a anti virus tool running?

    Which is it?

Once you start Creo and you get the error message, can you open Start > Control Panel > Administration Tools > Event Viewer. Click Windows logs and applications. Do you see any red errors? Can you send me the information to -?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi,

I am having the same problem. Mine showed error 6. Hence, I uninstalled Quality Agent and the reinstalled from C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 1.0\Common Files\M030\install\addon. However when I startes Creo again, it still shows the same error code 6. Any solutions so far? Do you think going to the local PTC office here in Malaysia would help?

I also had that error, 6 or 8 depending on different things I tried. After reading these posts I found a possible cause and a simple(?) solution.

    I'm running Win7 and

Creo was installed by default in the folder Program Files.

Quality agent was by default installed in the folder Program Files (x86).

I uninstalled Quality Agent and then reinstalled it ( from C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 1.0\Common Files\M030\install\addon) in the folder Program Files (same as Creo installation) and now it works fine.

Good luck to anyone with the same problem!

    /Christian

Thank you Christian for the workaround.

BTW......we will be releasing Creo 2.0 Student Edition (formerly the free Schools Edition) in a weeks time. Once available you will be able to register for it from www.ptc.com/go/creoforstudents. Both releases can be installed on the same machine.

    Thanks,

I am looking for an answer to start CREO 2.0. Thanks for your support.

    Andreas,

Have you tried opening permissions and reinstalling the Quality Agent as suggested above?

There is an issue with Quality Agent where if Creo is not installed by the same user who run Creo for the first time Quality Agent will not install because of a permissions issue.

If the software was installed using another user name, try running Creo using that user name. You may have to reinstall it as admin with that same user running it for the first time.

** Just be sure to save the license before removing Creo.

I have similar issue. I cannto fix it by any of your ideas. Please, help, I need Creo for my Univeristy project. I am using Windows 8 (but I have not any compatibility issue with other programs so I do not think it is Win8 issue), my laptop has Dual-Core 2.1 GHz processor and 4 GB RAM, also graphics ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570. I did not found any Windows Alerts in its history. I add a screen capture while Creo crashes. Please help!

I found a solution - run CREO in administrator mode. To do that, you go into your start menu, go to the program, right click, and select 'run as administrator.'
