How can I make modifications to an existing BOM table? I have a long list of part for an assembly and I have to keep adding parts as I go forward. I have used paginate to split the table into 2 separate tables on page 1 of my drawing. The problem is that when I add more parts the table will add the parts to the second page. If I add a segment to the first page of the BOM it adds the segment as a separate table and won't connect it to the original table. How do I expand the table and keep it as a complete segment instead of a bunch of little separate segments? What is the best way to keep making modifications to a BOM table on an existing drawing?

There are many situations where documents need to incorporate information stored in a database. A simple approach is to generate a report of the data from the database, and then copy and paste the data into the document. Unfortunately, that approach tends to be labor-intensive and error-prone, and can easily lead to out-of-sync documents if the database is updated but the document is not.   To make the process of embedding data in documents easier, Arbortext Editor and Publishing Engine support Data Merge, a framework for embedding data queries in your documents and for formatting the data results for publishing.   Data merge lets you set up query types tailored to your database. When a query is inserted into a document, it pulls current data from the database to complete the document. The presenters discussed how to harness the joint power of each technology to provide a single, integrated system that enables a reduction in the  design cycle time and increase your time to market goals.

Automating product and processes may reduce effort to launch or change a product configuration by up to 70%. The presenter discuss a proven high-level vision that provides a connected product development eco-system, while providing clarity through an enterprise dashboard. This resolves the issues of everything being manual, lack of executive visibility, fragmented systems, and lack of global infrastructure.

Legal publishing uses a lot of attributes, and CCH publications are some of the richest legal reporting available. When we converted to SGML nine years ago, one of the first things our users requested was a way to modify attributes globally outside the Arbortext Editor Modify Attributes dialog. Often they have been required to open XML files in Notepad, or Edit as XML Source to change attributes in large files, which led to error and was very time-consuming. The project got on the schedule in 2007, and we started the initial analysis, starting with what language to write the tool in, and how to create the interface.   Because this tool requires a good deal of querying the DTD, we decided to write it in ACL. The interface requirements included making it impossible for a user to create invalid XML. For example, the tool needed to remove #FIXED attributes from the attribute list, and, if the user wanted to delete attribute values, the tool needed to remove #REQUIRED attributes from t

The presenter demonstrated how 3D printing is expanding throughput various manufacturing sectors, discussing use cases and case studies of additive manufacturing, how 3D printing is shaping the factory of the future, and how these and other objectives are supported by the Stratasys – PTC partnership.

This panel included Windchill Admin experts from Cummins, Enerpac, and Raytheon who shared how each of their companies applied strategies to overcome common challenges such as project constraints, solution implementation processes, end-user adoption and more to achieve their business goals.

Connecting Windchill PDMLink to the ERP system is critical for an efficient flow of information between development and production. Based on a short live demo, the presenter showed a typical scenario of how an integration connects Windchill PDMLink objects with SAP data and the benefits of an interface between the two systems and the technical requirements needed.

Attendees to this session worked alongside hardware and software experts from O’Reilly and ThingWorx, and worked with a simple but useful use-case-driven curriculum using a shipping container as a smart and connected THING. Utilizing Raspberry Pi 3 and other device hardware, attendees built an IoT and Augmented Reality application for the shipping container to demonstrate what is truly possible. Simple building blocks yielded a real-life experience with AR and the IoT, demonstrating that these technologies are no longer emerging, but gaining more and more value across all industries.

Looking at the industry trends, it appears that IoT, Industry 4.0 and product digitalization will substantially affect competition, profitability, and the structure in many industries, as did the previous wave of internet-enabled IT. To be prepared and to define their strategy, companies must understand how smart, connected products impact industry and their service organizations, in terms of competition, profitability, and the way companies do business. Service business is an essential part of most new business models that companies are implementing. Within the service business, it appears that Customer Business Related Services are driving the growth, while Product Related Services will shrink, if not managed very differently than today.
