Sorry for splitting on you Friday, but I had a construction project. The great wall... The second wall The last man standing.....
Our first string humor guy hasn't posted today so in an attempt to get a laugh or 2... When you are sitting down for dinner and you realize its just a salad...
Our Boxer Zooey chased our 2 youngest kids. She took one leg bone from each. The kids were so scared they were trying to climb a tree...Imagine how hard it is to climb a tree with only one leg!!! In the end, we all had a good laugh and called a specialist (an archeologist!!) to re-attached with only a few gnaw marks!
Time for a fire in the wood stove tonight. It's getting to be that time of year. Beside when you're outside, it just smells so nice. Have a terrific weekend. I hate it when engineering students call themselves engineers.I don't see medical students calling themselves doctors or history students calling themselves unemployed.
Have a great weekend. For those leaving the PTC conference - safe travels. Enjoying the onset of fall.... The pessimist sees a dark tunnel…. The optimist sees a light at the end of the tunnel…. The realist sees two lights at the end of the tunnel…. …and the engineer can see three idiots standing on the railroad tracks.
Went fishing this past weekend. Didn't catch enough fish for a fish fry until the last night were there (1 am fishing). However, we ate really well since we had a cook that was "to die for"! Second picture was about 3 hours before the fish started piling up!
Have the day off tomorrow - need to split wood for the winter. "Louis Pasteur's theory of germs is ridiculous fiction". --Pierre Pachet, Professor of Physiology at Toulouse, 1872 "The abdomen, the chest, and the brain will forever be shut from the intrusion of the wise and humane surgeon". --Sir John Eric Ericksen, British surgeon, appointed Surgeon- Extraordinary to Queen Victoria 1873.
Someone has to help lighten the mood. The wife and I work really hard to keep our teenagers healthy and most importantly for them to get all the CALCIUM they need but all they want is the cookies we tried to put out of reach!
Have a great weekend. Clean the garage. Mow the yard. Do something fun with your family. Being out of the office tomorrow, I thought I'd share this today.
Beautiful fall weekend kicking into gear. Spend some time outdoors and looks at the creation around you. I've got a friend who is a structural engineer. He's always complaining about stress at work.
Have a terrific long weekend (for those in the states). I will miss our city's annual truck parade; a fun parade where businesses cleanup a truck or two and then there is about a 10 mile parade. Thankful for all the laborers that work to keep our cities, counties, states, nations and world going. A doctor and an engineer loved the same girl. The doctor would give her a rose daily and engineer would give the girl an apple. The girl got confused and asked engineer, “There is a meaning of giving rose in love, but why are you giving apple?” The engineer answered: “Because an apple a day keeps the doctor away."
Happy National Dog Day!! If you are still around this Friday afternoon, showcase your canine friends! Maple and I just got caught in a rainstorm (rain in which we desperately needed) but she is still a cutie with her wet dog fur (and smell) 🙂 Love her! Share your pooch!
Have a terrific weekend. Someone is calling you..... are you listening.....? You’ve all heard this one when answering questions about your profession, but probably in a serious tone … What does this have to do with trains? Why are the XYZ Company engineers like mushrooms? Because for both of them, you keep them in the dark, feed them crap, and then can them.

Hard to believe that some kids start school again next week. Summer is winding down and fall in on the way. Have a campfire. Make a Smore. Snuggle a little closer to the ones you love and appreciate time together. There once was a young engineer, who having worked for several years, decided that he and his family should have a weekend getaway place. He searched the surrounding country and found a lovely spot with frontage on a small river. They built a cabin and began spending time there every chance they got. The kids loved it, and friends came for the quiet and fishing. The engineer, however, wanted something unique for his cabin. He had been an award-winning pole vaulter in college. He therefore built a set of poles with a crosspiece, and a mulched run. He bought a new carbon fiber vaulting pole, new shoes, and was set. He would set off down the run, plant his pole, soar over the crosspiece, and land in the river with a satisfying splash. What a gr
Have you ever spent so much time in mapkeys that you cannot figure out why in the world a mapkey all of a sudden it not doing what it is supposed to be doing only to realize several minutes later that the mapkey is working just fine and the problem is your running the wrong mapkey!!! 🙂
What a beautiful morning here in Michigan. Have a great weekend. Once a DOCTOR and an ENGINEER entered a chocolate store... As they were busy looking around, doctor stole 3 chocolate bars... As they left the store, doctor said to Engineer: "Man! I'm the best thief ever, I stole 3 chocolates and no one saw me. You can't beat that" Engineer replied: "You wanna see something better? Let's go back to the shop and I'll show you real stealing" So, they went to the counter and Engineer said to the clerk: "Do you wanna see magic?" The clerk replied: "Yes!!!" Engineer said: "Give me one chocolate bar!" The clerk gave him one, and he ate it... He asked for the second, and he ate that as well. He asked for the third, and finished that one too. The clerk asked: "But where's the magic?" Engineer replied: "Check in my friend's pocket, and you'll find them..!!!"
WOW! August! Hope you are getting enough fun in during the summer. Create memories. Careers: Doctors make money from people’s pain. Ministers make money from people's fears. Lawyers make money from people's mistakes And…. Engineers make things just a little bit better.
WOW! The last Friday in July. Enjoy the weekend, the vacation, or the holiday! Create some memories.... An engineer dies and is met at the Pearly Gates by St Peter. St Peter asks the engineer his name as he searches for it in the big Book of Life. St Peter looks up and states, “There’s been a mistake, you’re not due here for another 50 years!” The engineer is distraught and asks what can be done. St Peter replies, “No problem, this happens more often than you think. Follow me.” So they walk through the gates and to a room with several bins in it. This is the body parts room. St Peter takes the engineer to the legs bins and states, “We have all kinds of legs to choose from, but relative to all the good you have done in life so far, you only get $500 worth to play with.” The engineer sees this as the usual ‘get the most for the least’ cost exercise so decides to pick carefully and asks, “how much are super strong legs?” “$10 each” replies St Pete
Have a great weekend. Hug the ones you love. My son head's back out of state after being home for almost 8 weeks. "Everything that can be invented has been invented." --Charles H. Duell, Commissioner, U.S. Office of Patents, 1899.
Happy mid-summer (from the calendar - not from the actual season). Back to schools sales have started much to the chagrin of my pre-school teachers at home. What has someone said to you to hold you back and how did you prove them wrong? "Professor Goddard does not know the relation between action and reaction and the need to have something better than a vacuum against which to react. He seems to lack the basic knowledge ladled out daily in high schools." --1921 New York Times editorial about Robert Goddard's revolutionary rocket work. "You want to have consistent and uniform muscle development across all of your muscles? It can't be done. It's just a fact of life. You just have to accept inconsistent muscle development as an unalterable condition of weight training." --Response to Arthur Jones, who solved the "unsolvable" problem by inventing Nautilus. "Drill for oil? You mean drill into the ground to try and find oil? You're crazy." --Drillers who Ed
What are you up to this weekend? Any nagging projects that can be put off until next week so you can go to the beach or hangout with friends? "If I had thought about it, I wouldn't have done the experiment. The literature was full of examples that said you can't do this." --Spencer Silver on the work that led to the unique adhesives for 3-M"Post-It" Notepads. "So we went to Atari and said, 'Hey, we've got this amazing thing, even built with some of your parts, and what do you think about funding us? Or we' ll give it to you. We just want to do it. Pay our salary, we'll come work for you.' And they said, 'No.' So then we went to Hewlett-Packard, and they said, 'Hey, we don't need you. You haven't got through college yet.'" --Apple Computer Inc. founder Steve Jobs on attempts to get Atari and H-P interested in his and Steve Wozniak's personal computer. Here is an interesting fact about Independence Day, 1826: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6Ev9m7Qx8I
In the States, have a terrific long Independence Day Weekend. Give thanks for those set the foundation for our country. For others, pause to reflect on your own country and what makes it special to you. "A cookie store is a bad idea. Besides, the market research reports say America likes crispy cookies, not soft and chewy cookies like you make." --Response to Debbi Fields' idea of starting Mrs. Fields' Cookies "We don't like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out." --Decca Recording Co. rejecting the Beatles, 1962. "Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible." --Lord Kelvin, president, Royal Society, 1895.
For all the engineers out there, the last Friday in June is Engineer's Day at the Soo Locks linking Lake Superior to Lake Huron in the St. Mary's River. https://www.lre.usace.army.mil/Media/News-Releases/Article/2980183/engineers-day-2022-will-allow-visitors-across-locks/
