Design rule check

Software: Creo Parametric 7.0.10.0

 

I want to assign some sheet metal design rules and have created one. Can we verify those rules in the model. I tried using "MODEL CHECK Rule Check". But I'm getting this error "Cannot read rules from file". I have saved the rules in this filename "design_rule_test.rul" (as saved from Model properties). But in creo documentation, it is mentioned that the file should have ".rule" extension. I have also created "RC_MODEL_TYPE" parameter. How to do this correctly. Am I doing something wrong?
