Question

Block Visualization of unlocked items for Contract Manufacturers

I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 11.1 and Datecode with CPS M020-CPS24

Some of the users in one of our Contract Manufacturers can see items that are in the middle of changes (In Work, Prototype In Work, etc.) in Windchill. We do not want that, only those that are released and locked down.
I have different group access settings for some of the users and I was wondering if you could tell me which groups they should and shouldn’t be in to prevent this. Or maybe it is a setting somewhere else I need to change?

Thanks,
Pam

You would need to refine your ACLs in either the context Policy Administrator or higher at the Org or Site level. This is entirely specific to your install since it depends upon the groups and objects you want to block. You can hold back rights by not granting read or if there is a global read that they get included into, you can specifically deny this group rights to see those objects and those states. Are these contract mfg part of a unique group? If so, you can add ACLs to deny by state those objects. The policy administrator can show you summary rights to check your work.

The settings should be for all CMs, but each CM has their own group as far as I know. They have Read Only access, but there is at least one CM group who can see changes in process, and we need to remove that option. Thank you for your reply!

Hi Anurag,

I am working with a PTC person on this using the Policy Administrator suggestion above . We haven't quite figured it out yet, but we are taking steps to resolve it. The problem is, we have a few different CMs and some of them can see changes in process and some can't. We have to figure out who sees what and update their groups accordingly.

Thank you for your help!
