Check-in error:

Hello All,

Has anyone experienced a check-in problem with this message: "The object is not checked out and cannot be modified"

The problem is affecting several users so it must be a server issue,but the event viewer does not give an object name so it is

impossible to investigate. The objects upload OK but the check-in also fails from a standalone browser.

The method server log shows this everytime it fails:

2012-01-13 11:39:13,125 INFO [RMI TCP Connection(2840)-10.210.48.3] com.ptc.windchill.uwgm.proesrv.conflict.UwgmMessageSaAdapter - UwgmMessageSaAdapter.processErrorException :: no elements in UwgmErrorException: com.ptc.windchill.uwgm.common.conflict.UwgmErrorException: wt.part.PartException: wt.fc.ModificationNotAllowedException: (wt.vc.wip.wipResource/47) wt.vc.wip.WorkInProgressException: The object is not checked out and cannot be modified.

We are using Windchill PDMLink 9.1 M060 & Wildfire 4 M170

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It could be a family table object, where not all the instances are checked out.

Agree, do you use the preference to allow independent modification of
instances? If this is off it could force a checkout of all instances before
a single one can be checked in. In addition, you may need to ignore if the
entire assembly is not checked out or in workspace. We use PDMLink with
CATIA V5, so it may not impact ProE and Wildfire, but worth looking into.
