Question

Mozilla browser

We've recently been using the embedded mozilla browser due to what seems like constant ie/windchill annoyances. One of my users sent me this, does anyone have any advice?

> The Mozilla Browser is not working to “Collect Related Data”. For example, if I select a generic model for checkout I should be able to collect all the related instances of that model, but when I try the interface just sits there spinning . . . . . . other users have experienced the same thing.

We are using 10.1M040 which officially supports IE8 and IE9. We found later versions not to work correctly with WGM.

Within the business we have other tools which require higher versions of IE in order to function correctly. We thought a work around for this would be to use the embedded browser in Creo and WGM. We tested this OK on a few machines and rolled out this change recently to every client. We had immediate corporate meltdown with many CAD users experiencing serious problems, and were forced to hastely reverse this change.

I was planning to ask if anybody else had experienced issues with embedded browser.

Has anyone found a solution to this? We are evaluating Firefox since all the IE security issues is forcing us to go to IE 11 (does not work with Windchill 10.1). We are getting the hangs on collecting related data.

We use Chrome without many problems as a stand alone browser with
Windchill 10.1. There was a problem in a recent update to Chrome that
broke the tab feature in Windchill 10.1, but other than that Chrome works
well. It is not a solution for the Creo embedded browser, however, We
still use IE for that.

Chrome is still working poorly for me after that update. Even on 10.2 M020.

David,
I do not have a solution for Mozilla; however, have been testing IE 11 on a variety of different 32 bit apps with some success.
Compatibility mode in IE 11 seems to be synonymous with 32 bit.
For IE 11, maybe try installing 32 bit JRE and automatically install the 32 bit Java browser plugins.
Then set the compatibility mode URL to your Windchill site.

Can you deploy Chrome 36 beta? That supposedly has the tab breakage issue resolved

If you go to M100 or newer there is a new option "browser_limit_to_ie9_mode". You can install IE10 or IE11 and they will run embedded as IE9.

I confirme With Chrome beta 36 and Chrome Canary (Dev 37) the tab problem in Windchill10.X is solved. There is a case open on PTC support :https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS172436&posno=3&q=chrome&nav=&source=Search.

I hope the official chrome version 36 will be deployed as soon as possible. Our users back to IE but with the navigation speed between us is huge.

I think it is supposed to be 5 weeks from now before it is released.
