"New Variance" action menu item still shows

Thru the use of custom roles and modifying the access control I have tweaked Windchill so only a
limited set of users actually have permission to create a Variance. The problem is that the "New
Variance" menu selection still shows in the Actions menu for users that do NOT have permissions to
create one. If selected the "New Variance" window opens and the user gets a "ATTENTION: Action
Unavailable. No Creatable types could be found" error dialog.

So they can't actually create one however the menu selection is still there. I thought the action
menus were "permissions" smart and only displayed what the user had permissions to do. Any ideas
what am I missing here?

Windchill PDMLink 9.1 M050

Thanks

This culprit likely an action validator which operates on a slightly
different premise from what controls the role based actions. Have you tried
disabling the OIR for variances also? Lifecycle template?

I would try using Profiles + Role Actions and remove the button from their interface.
