Question

Related Objects

Playing with an OOTB windchill 9.1 M030 install and I have a question.

I have a CAD Document associated to a wtpart.

When I go to the information screen of the CAD Document, I can do a
"RELATED OBJECTS > Parts" and it will show me the related wtpart.

When I am in the information screen for the wtpart and I want to find
the related CAD Document, there does not seem to be a menu item for it.

I see "Documents" under "RELATED OBJECTS" and it does not show the CAD
Documents.

I called PTC help and so far, no answer from them.

Am I missing something here?

How can one find the related CAD Document of a wtpart?

Thanks for your help.

From the WT Part, select the Structure tab, then select the Part(s) and Show Documents. Can also select Related Objects, CAD/Dynamic Documents (Dynamic Documents are Arbortext).

That is abnormal, because from the wtpart information page you should see "CAD Document" as an option under "related object".

Thanks

Sorry, I forgot to ask you, if you have done any customizations to that page?

This is an OOTB test system. So no customization.

Thanks for your replies.

I guess the workaround is to "Show Documents" in "Structure"

Yes, that will work as well. But it concerns me though that you are not able to see the "Cad Doc" option under "related objects" while on a part info page. That is supposed to be OOTB....

Hi Andrew,
This option may be filtered out in one of the following locations:

You guys are amazing. This solved the problem.

The CAD Documents was showing for Products, but not for Libraries. I
added the check in the profile for CAD Authors and I now see the menu.

Thanks to all.

The OTB Profiles are very aggressive - and it's not intuitive to go look at them for things like this not showing.

We came to the conclusion that only Two Profiles for the whole system was enough complexity.
