Search Paths with Windchill

Maybe this question has already been answered elsewhere, but I couldn't find it while searching.

Are Search Paths needed in any way if all of our files are stored on Windchill 10.0?

I have a bunch of users who still keep their search paths in their config.pro files and I am trying to get them to clean them out. Having a bunch of random issues pertaining to bad configs.

If anyone can give me a justified reason as to why we would need to keep them???

I just don't see it, since all the searching is now done through eithe external or internal browser.
