Windchill Roles / ACLs

Our Windchill system currently has 174 organization level roles defined. We use 5. I'm considering eliminating most of the roles and corresponding ACLs to make things more manageable. Has anyone else done this? Anything I should know before attempting it? I figure I can always reference a clean, default system if I need to add specific permissions back to a role in the future. Thanks!

Hi,



OOTB Windchill may have around 174 roles, you can always hide them through ORG>Roles ..Some thing like that.


YOu can just show theones you use.


Removing Roles is not advised, as will pose issues in OOTB behaviour.


Because, in future , if you want to add any OOTB role, you just need to Show them again for Team setup.

So much for that idea. Only custom roles can be deleted.

I guess I'll need to simply hide them and then delete the corresponding ACLs.

Dont delete ACLs, Just hide the roles.


Deleting ACL of the OOTB roles is not really needed.

Can hide Roles at Org, Roles, or even in the RB via enumcustomize (uncheck
Selectable).



But - really no downside to leaving all Roles "visible" because they are
only visible to admin.
