Workgroup Manager with Solidworks Educational version

Is it possible to register SW 2012 educational version in WGM 10.1? I've tried and WGM just shuts down when I point it at the 2012 version.

I Am just guessing but perhaps educational version of sw limits the types of "add-ins" that can be added in. Wwgm is connected to sw via the add-in method. This is just a guess
