How do I create a note that is linked to the rpt.index of a BOM?

I want to create a note that is linked to the rpt.index for a specific part in the BOM.

My note would say something like "INSTALL ITEM 15 PER MFG INSTRUCTIONS." where 15 is the index number for a part in my BOM.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the info.

This is definetly one way to do what I want.

I am little dissapointed in the Drafting capabilites of CREO.

It seems to me that this capbility should be part of the basic functionality.

Other CAD systems have this capability without having to create this workaround.

It would be nice if PTC would make this availble.

I will consider your solution.

thanks again.

Unfortunately you can not reference the rpt.index in anywhere except in the BOM table.

The only way i know of to do something similar is to use component parameter assigned and us it in your BOM table.

That is detailed https://community.ptc.com/t5/Creo-Modeling-Questions/Create-a-BOM-index-between-Simplified-reps/m-p/62384/highlight/true#M15788 in the response detailed by dshenken

It's more work, no doubt. You'll also have to create a custom balloon to show the component parameter.

It does give you a lot more control.

Once you have the component param, you can use that in other notes
