intersection of part surfaces on datum

Hi

 

I have a part having extrude feature. And plane is also there. on plane, I need to have intersect profile but not able to do complete feature creation in part mode. Attached is sample part file on which I am trying.

 

What I am doing is as below:

Sleect datum

click on intersect

select all surfaces of part

 

I am not able to complete this feature. Any suggestion what I am missing on this?

The copy paste is not required. If you select the solid surfaces of the model you can intersect the plane and create the desired curve. See the enclosed part for reference.

Create a quilt by copying the solid surfaces of the extruded solid.  You can do this with the copy paste (ctrl+C->ctrl+V). Then intersect the quilt with the plane. This will give you a stable feature for the intersection that should regenerate if the parents regen without error.

Okay.. I will try this once.... But why directly it's not working without doing copy paste ? It's redundant.... Does intersect feature demand copy paste first ?

Can anyone help me to have updated part with intersect feature ?
