Offest and Thickness in sketcher: Difference

In sketcher panel, the two different options 'Offset' and 'Thickness'. What's the difference between these two. It look like both does the same work. I'm sure there must be something one does while the other doesn't. Anyone please clarify.

Offset creates a copy of selected entities and moves them by input value.

Thicken has an extra option for closing cap ends and defining thickness and offset values.
