spliting feature from a imported part

Hi Bro's.

I am designing some plastic stuffs for home appliances (white goods actually)

I want to reduce design time by using standart features (like rips, bosses, screw supports etc.) instead drawing them every time.

I have old part's 3d datas which are imported in step format. So I would like to split these standart features from solid parts and use them as assembly parts.

Is it possible? If its could you please advice?

You can import the STEP, convert it to a surface, and then copy the bits that you want. But this is probably not the best way to go.

What you should be looking into is the use of "user defined features" or UDF's.

Another possible option is "inheritance".

Welcome to the forum, Mehmet.

It is poor practice to try cutting corners in CAD. If you need to reuse common data, it is best to develop this into a library. You have user defined routines that can help; you can save and reuse section/sketch data quickly using the palette. Most of the features you would be interested in are already incorporated as standard features that are easily created on the fly.

Creo Parametric is simply is not a cut-n-paste type of product. Maybe Creo Elements would be a better fit.
