Textures?

I have a quilt that is not flat it has some curves to it. What I need is to be able to apply texture to the surface instead of PROE treating the circular sections as seperate surfaces even though when I select it the entire surface it is all selected. I basically dont want the texture to change when applied. It should all be applied across the entire surface. I have attached 2 pictures to help explain. The first one is all pink when I select the surface. The second one is after I apply the texture you can see that the circular domes apply texture in their own way different than the rest of the surface. I have had this problem for a while. I am hoping that someone has a solution or eplanation.
