Thread orientation.

I have some parts that when they are assembled have to be indexed to a fied position. Can somone share how you would describe this on a drawing?

Your subject says Thread orientation. Rare is it that you need to or want to cut the threads in the model. However if that is the case then you have to place assembly features(points and planes) to assemble to. This way you have exacting control that you require.

When the male threaded part is assembled into the mating part, it will lock to a surface inside the mating part. I need to control the orientation with the thread starting angles so when they lock they will be indexed to the correct point. I used the default thread in pro so I just pointed to the center axis of the part and said that this where the "full" thread starts. I am being told by the engineering manager that this is not good enough?

If I build the geometry "threads" on both models, can I use datum curves to
drive "automate" the threaded assembly?
