Hi All, What is you experience with LCD monitors, using Pro/E. I have a couple of people trying them out right now on 17". They seem to be crisp and bright. The IT guy is looking at the cost difference between 21" LCD and CRT. I think the difference in power consumption and user comfort will offset the initial investment. Anyone do a long term affects report on ergonomics (i.e. eye strain) , energy cost, etc...?? Thanks in advance, Ozzie ScimiaSenior Mechanical Designer Bangor Metals Corp. - Brute Mfg. users... I'm currently using an old Spacetec Inc. Spaceball 3003FLX that was newwhen I purchased it. Ever since day one, occasionally, the driver (yes,I have the latest one: 3.6.4 from 3DxConnexion and we are on XP Pro,still using Pro/E2001, but at some point will be going to Wildfire...)seems to be looking for the unit on COM2 when it's plugged into COM1, orvice-a-versa. Typically, I've just physically swapped the location ofthe connector and all was well. On my most recent workstation that onlyhas one serial port, it seems not to have this problem... at least sofar. I've only had this new system for a few days. This is not thatbig of deal, as I said, the problem is "intermittent" and I certainly donot want to give up on my spaceball, EVER! So, my first question is:anyone else seeing this behavior, and have you possibly resolved it? Furthermore, I'm thinking that maybe it's time to buy a NEW spaceball. My second question is what are you all using out there? Are they allbasically the s

The responses that I received have been helpful and I have given all your responses to my boss. I would like to thank all of those (with 1 exception) who responded to my posting. I have to admit that I am concerned that there were not more positive responses. I also think PTC should be seriously concerned about how the responses breakdown:5 positives, 3 that I would consider conditional but still helpful6 negatives1 salesman - because of reasons not applicable to this discussion, I don't accept anything said without verification from another source Just for the record, I don't need to 'talk to other companies this ex-PTC AE has gotten up to speed'. I judge a person by the quality of the work he (she) gives me. We have been extremely pleased with the quality and quantity of the his work. He has been a valuable addition to our engineering staff.1 idiot (2x) Regards,David A. Myers

I got a few hits on this one. I had the correct idea, just didn't knowthe method. Basically define the number of coils in the relation then set it up sothat pitch equals the defined length divided by the number of coils. Ifthis value ever equals less than the wire diameter then set the pitchequal to the wire diameter and the length to the product of the wirediameter and number of coils. Following is probably the best example given: Assume D0 is the length of the spring that will be varied, D5 is thewire diameter, D2 is the pitch, and you require 5 coils: I would createa parameter called COILS and set it to the number of coils you want. Thefollowing relations will change the pitch to follow the length and notallow the spring to be shorter than fully compressed: IF D0 < (D5*COILS) D0=D5*COILS D2=D5ELSE D2=D0/COILSENDIF Thanks to all who responded. This gives me a good starting point. Phil
Is anyone aware how to write mapkeys using environment variables?I know how to set path's and such using them, but also want to write mapkeys. Our company is setting up some outside contractors and we will be sending them our comfigurations. I do not want to tie them to a specific location if possible. If I could search using a variable they could put the files wherever they chose and map the variable to correspond.Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know when Wildfire 3.0 will be released ?
I am inexperienced at FIL programming and have been having difficultyfiguring out the correct code. I would like to have the post do the following: If ncl is showing clamp/manual,on,on then insert m47 else if ncl is showing clamp/manual,off,off then insert m46 end if How do I represent this in FIL language.
