anybody using this to publish 3D proe models?
I am currently using Pro/MECHANICA to analyze a struture comprising ofsteel and aluminium. To analyze whether the structure will fail undercertain load, i have to filled in the tensile yield stress of materialswhen editing the material. Is that we have to impose certain degree ofsafety factor to this tensile yield stress? I am in a dilema about whatsafety factor should i use for. Besides, there are 3 types of criteria totest for failure of structure(distortion energy or von mises, maximumshear stress or tresca and modified mohr), which is the best to used? Please advise, thanks.
I have a drwg in Wildfire with two out of scale dimensions, I want to modified/edit them to show other number (fake it). How do you do this in Wildfire? What I used to do in previous releases do not work. thanks

Hi All,Add to the woes of not highlighting the 'open' section, Pro/E also can befustrating when we bring in Sketched entities from, Say, AutoCAD into Pro/Esketcher environment. How do I insert the sketch exactly where I want it inthe sketcher ? For example, I have a centerline that I want to align withone of the planes in the sketcher mode. Can I do it directly first time WhenI bring in the sketched entities from insert--> data from file? Right nowI need to place it somewhere in sketcher environment and then constrain thesketch which can be a pain at times.I believe many of us who work with Vendors get their dwgs from AutoCADwhich we then model into Pro/E. It would be nice if any of you if couldgive some guidelines on the best ways to handle inserted sketched entities.I am always confounded with whole screen becoming a spaghetti of White/graydimensions and constraints that takes eons to sort out (even after I bringin the entities piece by piece) :-).Thanks all in advance,Jaya

Thanks for all the replies. Looks as though XP Prof will work out fine fromwhat everyone has reported. Some actually felt it was better than 2000Prof. due to the security enhancements in XP Prof SP2. I guess I may haveto try using it. One thing, someone did caution about using XP Home editionwith ProE. Allen LockhartMechanical Development Engineer(724) 439-7838(724) 439-7861 (fax)

Gee, I go out of town for a couple days, and see what happens?? 🙂Thanks for everyone who responded on the rules topic. I am reading through the responses but I think the gist of the discussion is:1. People agree that everyone ought to follow the rules. My main concern in making the posting was to remind people to not post the off-topic messages--these really get annoying, even if they are well-intentioned.2. We have differing thoughts on the posting guidelines. Personally, I don't mind if everything gets posted to the exploder because everyone gets a copy of the discussion that way. As I stated, item four in my original posting is more of a suggestion rather than a hard rule. However, I also understand that people get frustrated when they get a full inbox of exploder messages. I have a filter setup on my account to route all of the discussions into a folder so I don't lose them. I highly recommend using filters with your Outlook (or other client) software--this is a really useful techn
So in other words, you want some of the rules but only the ones youagree with? When you sign on to the exploder, these rules are spelledout distinctly. In all walks of society, we have to abide by rules. As aEuropean, I find the affected "horror" over Janet Jackson and the"nipplegate" incident faintly amusing but would I let my wife on thebeach topless, I don't think so - because the "rules" in the USA don'tallow it. (As and aside, if my wife wanted to go topless, I would haveABSOLUTELY no say in it anyway). So we have to abide by the rules setfor whatever we're doing otherwise we'd have everybody doing their ownthing which is precisely what Rick - in his extremely nice way - istrying to avoid. One would hope that these rules have been carefullythought out and are of benefit to all but IF a change is warranted, let's get them changed by mutual consent and not by mavericks breakingthem.Richard
In Wildfire:I'd like to create a neutral curve draft using the loop surfaces option.I can't seem to find the menu for this. Thanks in advance!Ken McMahonMechanical EngineerHarman Consumer GroupNorthridge, Ca.818-895-3344
Experts and expert wantabes: I am trying to create a unilateral profile.Pro even goes through the motions, but it doesn't create the phantom line required by ASME Y14.5M-1994.Am I missing something? This use to work.I'm using Pro 2001 Code 2004090
All, First off, thanks again for a quick and accurate response from thiscommunity. The overwhelming answer I received was that Pro uses the letter "G"exclusively for gravitational constant. Most of the responses suggested using a modified version (such as G_ orGG) which is what I'll end up doing, but it's not as clean as I wouldlike it to be. Thanks again,Dave
Hi Users,What versions of Pro-e will run on XP, and will they run ok on XP home edition. What are the advantages \ disadvantages of running it on home edition in comparison to professional. Thanks and best regardsStephen
