I have been using MathCAD 14 for several years and it does an excellant job for me. I don't make any complex calculations, just simple algebra. I just got a new computer and I installed my MathCAD14 license on it and it works fine. That was much easier than the previous times I had to do that. Now I have a problem with some of my existing files. I get this error message. I still have the old computer with MathCAD and I can open these files fine with the old (but same version) of MathCAD 14. I have tried opening them againg and resaving them, moving them from the network to my local computer and also saving them in older MathCAD version i.e 13 12 and 11. Nothing works. Is there a way around this?Eldon
If I have two vectors each with one column and 15 rows and I want to take the minimum of each row of the two vectors and make that a new vector is that possible?
Hello,I would like to know, whether we can use "Given" & "find" options inside "For" loop. Thanks & Regards,
Hello folks,I'm trying to learn how to specify Neumann boundary conditions using numol to solve a PDE.As you may be aware, Prime 3.0 does not feature Pdesolve so if we want to solve a PDE, we need to use either numol, relax or multigrid.I'm using a rather simple example of Pdesolve in which we have a flat plate perfectly insulated at x=0 and with convection at x=L. Now, the problem I'm having is that I cannot decipher how to express these boundaries conditions when using numol. If someone knows how to do this, please solve the problem in the attached file using numol and post the solution in the reply. Thanks a lot for you help!P.S.: I saved the file in Mathcad 11 format so that a bigger audience may be able to open it and contribute. Thanks again.
Please see the attached MC Prime 3.0 worksheet (I also included a PDF copy for users of other versions of MC).Introduction (for those who don't know the Colebrook White Equation)The empirical Colebrook-White Equation (CW) is the standard way to estimate friction factors for use with the Darcy Equation for determining energy (head) loss in fluid flow. CW has three variables: the relative roughness (k), the Reynolds Number (NR), and the friction factor (f). The relative roughness describes the pipe condition, the Reynolds Number describes the fluid condition, and the friction factor is based on these two. CW is normally solved for f based on input values of k and NR. CW is implicit for f and requires an iterative solution.Instead of interating CW, it is possible to use the Moody Diagram to find f. The Moody Diagram has NR as the independent varaible and f as the dependent variable. A family of curves, each based on a constant value of k is plotted in the turbulent flow region. Knowing k
I would like to find an illustration software that would allow me to sketch simple illustrations for my calculus worksheets. If possible I woould like to be able to diminsion the drawings and have the dimensions change with change in illustration. 3 d would be nice and rotation. I have downloaded the creo suite but I do not know how to use them and I do not know if this is what they are for. can anyone give me some ideas?
Where is all legacy Mathcad stuff ( Electronic Books, free Add-ons for Mathcad 8, 2000, 2001, 2001i) ?Much of it was/is loadable even by newer and current Mathcad editions !I did not find anything here, also Google does not find anything special if I look for "Mathcad Electronics Books".Btw, I am still using Mathcad2001i - no software activation, enough math power -, for my own internal development purpuses. It runs well on W2k and WinXP.If an employer or project owner asks me to do something with Mathcad, I expect a current version of course :-), thats the business. With the newer Mathcad versions, it is still possible to save in the Mathcad 2001i format (but not in Mathcad 2001 format, or older ) :-).SincerelyRolf
Hi, I am using genfit() to fit my experimental data to one function with 3 free parameters. Mathcad could give the best fit parameters very fast. But how to calculate the error of these fitted parameters. Thanks a lot.
I'm trying to familiarize myself with using Mathcad to solve complex equations. My understanding is I should state a guess for the variable, state the given and then use the find command, but this isn't working. Can anyone point out my error in the attached file?
I want to create a table and assign the different variables to each cell. After the solving the values, Save the table to text file. How can do it ??
Hello, I'm trying to use the solver to solve 4 unknowns with 4 equations. I keep getting the error "No solution was found". I can work the answer out easily enough by hand and all the similar examples I have found seem to work just fine. What am I doing wrong? Help!
Hellois there a function for making Mathcad rewrite an expression with the variable Values, ie:a= 500 b =200a*b-----> 500x200=10000Its just for copying and pasting in word..Thanks in advanceCheers
The mhyper function seems to be acting strange in that it returns zero when the function is called with variables for the inputs and the last input is greater than about 70. I have attached an example worksheet that illustrates this.I am using Mathcad 14.0 M020 (14.0.2.5), and a coworker using Mathcad 15 got the same result. Is there a correction or work around for this?
Hi,Does anyone have or know where I can find a Mathcad 15 worksheet that demonstrates an ellipsiod fit to 3D data?Thankyou in anticipation,Mike.
Hi. I would like to solve the equation below by iteration for ro_g=0.616, ro_a=1.2, Ho=2, Hd=1.5 Thank you for the help. Have a good day
Do you know better model of friction?See please picture and attach (Mathcad 15 with only fixed or adaptive methods of ODEs solution) and Prime (with t.e<5.5 hr)..
Hello everyone,I have this drawing of a XY plot in a book and I want to make the same one in Mathcad Prime 3.0 but I am a beginner maybe someone can help me. I have all the values for all the variable there (Ip,t2a,t3a etc). I tried using the available documentation but I can t figure it out on how to do it. Please your help will be very appreciated. Srry for my english writing skills.
Hi,How can I determine the area and center of mass of a polygon knowing the coordinates of its points? the lenght of the segment 01 and the angle between lines 05 and 45? Thank you,Gabriel
I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I am 65 and having difficulty with where to start in mathcad. I am taking an online course in Calculus and they brought up the concept of rieman sums between two functions. I bought prime 3 student edition but I am lost. I am interested in a worksheet that will allow a person to enter two functions, the bounderies, and the amount of subdivisions. and get an output as close to the integrals as one would like. Also if anyone can direct me to a place that I can learn how to use mathcad to make my own worksheets that would be appreciated. If you are willing to show me how, please send the worksheet as an attachment to -
Hi,I need some ideas on how to do the following:I have two variables a and b, the sum of a & b is 10. I would like Mathcad to work out all the possibilities that give me a+b=10, and a keep in mind I would like them to be integers.Thank you
Team,I need to be able to assign a color, based upon wall tension, to a 3D graph of an ellipsoid. In a separate graph, I will also need to asign a color to change in tension in the ellipsoid. Thanks
I am working on a mathcad worksheet where I read data from external excel file. Every time I open the mathcad worksheet, it reads file and does calculations. My question is - is there a way to remember a previous value of a certain variable with its new value and calculate the difference betwwn two?
Apparently I don't understand local variables very well. In the code below, I'm trying to iterate the minimization function using solutions from the previous iteration. After the initial iteration, the values are not updated. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Hi,I have tried to solve a basic buck converter equations "in time domain", using functions (I am quite used to do it in a "discrete" way with fixed step solving). Unfortunately, the odesolve gives some very strange results. Thee current is suposed to go up and down in regular sawtooths going up or down according to the PWM function, but it looks like sometimes the solver skips some transitions, causing the current to jump in stupid ways.I hoped using the odesolve would give me more resolution in the solution (possibly more than I can plot), but this doesn't help me in trusting the solver. Unless I did something wrong ?Best regardsAdrien
Dear all,I have posted a similar question a while ago, and the general consensus was that it is not possible, at least with Mathcad, to symbolic solve a system of coupled second order different equation. However, I have found in many papers and books writing out analytical formula of the solutions to the coupled equations. Attached is the system I am trying to solve. I have seen analytical formula even for one more mass. Although solving this sort of equation with two masses, no damping (dissipation) and with only one driving force is simple enough, even by hand, it is impossible to do the same for a system with two different damping constants and two driving forces. I have been trying for two weeks now, but could not figure out the solution. Of course, I could get the numeric solution, but I could not get the same result as in Eq. 5. So, I was wondering if someone could help me with this. Although it would be perfect if it is somehow possible with Mathcad, but any solution to this pro
