This presentation will show how you can combine PTC Creo View with PTC Creo Parametric and thus acquire totally new abilities to develop products in view of their overall context. A bi-directional interface allows the user to open entire assemblies in PTC Creo View, smart selection options like the neighborhood search function assist the detection process and the designated subset can be transferred to PTC Creo Parametric. Editing in the CAD application is done as usual and alterations can be directly reloaded into PTC Creo View in order to visualize changes within the assembly´s overall context. Most of the leading companies utilizing CNC machinery, regardless of the industry, already use digital manufacturing technology to improve their NC machining processes. But most companies don’t realize that some of their existing technology can be utilized even before a new CNC machine has been delivered. When a company purchases a new CNC machine tool, the process is usually chronological: a specification of the requirements is created, a machine is selected, and after negotiation a delivery date is set. Once the machine is delivered, the shop then begins the process of creating new part programs and running first part prove-outs. By the time the post-processor is fine-tuned and production parts are being produced, many valuable months have passed. One main problem with electrical design when using PTC Creo Schematics is that most processes require detailed knowledge of the design at a stage where it may not be known. Electrical design is an iterative process which starts from a basic Schematic dropping in the fundamental components of a design, such as a switch or solenoid, before evolving into a detailed Wiring Diagram which defines all components and wires which will be used in a new product. This design process uses PTC Creo Schematics to improve efficiency when moving from the early stages of electrical design through detailed design whilst resolving a number of issues which can occur during the product development process. Raytheon has run PTC Creo 2 (Pro/e) on everything from individual workstations, to engineering laptops, to blade workstations with RGS, and now on Virtual Machines with discrete and distributed Hardware Accelerated Graphics. For the past decade, Raytheon has benchmarked new engineering application versions and hardware to get optimum bang for our workstation buck. Current challenges in Electrical Product Design are related to more compact products, with more electronical components, connected products and shorter development times. Previously the electrical distances (clearance and creepage) were checked manually in PTC Creo and were time consuming, prone to errors, not exhaustive, necessiting more prototype cycles and tests. By using SAX, hear how Schneider Electric has reduced the cost of electrical clearance checks in two recent product developments with less development cycles, less prototypes and less late issues. Schneider Electric faced SAX readiness issues as well as missing features in the global mechatronics approach, especially for importing the copper tracks on the PCB board. This is a follow-up presentation from PTC Live Global 2014 that shares the method used at Sandia National Laboratories to identify, authorize, and to configuration manage a STEP file that is geometrically equivalent to the associated three-dimensional (3D) computer-aided design (CAD) native part model file (PTC CREO Parametric), including part models within an inseparable assembly. A STEP file created according to this method at Sandia is known as a “Support Model”. Most companies still consider a traditional 2D drawing (and with this the PTC Creo Parametric .drw file) as the leading database object of their enterprise. Designers use to deliver their work results as 2D drawings to downstream processes for decades. In the recent years more and more pieces of the traditional drawing content moved into the 3D model, but usually not exclusively and are often managed redundantly in 2D drawing and 3D model. This needs to change to avoid inconsistency and to exploit the full potential of 3D based documentation. Consequential the 3D model will become the single source of information and the leading object in companies’ databases. Color coded searches are used to visually recognize parts in an assembly that meet certain search criteria. They are easy to set-up in PTC Creo View and can benefit the whole Enterprise. Configuration Management can see what parts are still at the Lifecycle state of "In Work". The presenters will discuss how to use the color coded search to recognize which parts and assemblies have been released before sending them off to get manufactured. Manufacturing will then be able to recognize parts that contain hazardous material and require special handling. This allows the model to show the critical information instead of a text file.
