Update:  The PTC Community is open for engagement.  We are temporarily operating on a pre-moderation mode: the Community team is reviewing your posts before publication while we are finalizing the platform for regular usage.

We wanted to share some big news! Around April 6, we will be moving from our current Khoros Community Platform to the Gainsight Communities platform.

 

Here’s what you need to know:

 

  • We’re excited about the careful integration of AI‑powered features that Gainsight offers to help community members—when they choose to use them—create meaningful, high‑quality posts.

  • The Community Team will gain new in‑platform tools that allow us to deliver a more personalized experience for all community members.

 

  • We understand how important your community history and conversations are. Our technical migration experts are:

    • Carefully transferring all existing PTC Community content.
    • Testing the migrated content to ensure it displays correctly and as intended

To support this work, the community will be in a read‑only state from March 23 through April 13.

 

 

Our PTC Community (Customer) Champions have been involved throughout the planning. Together, we’ve identified that discussion forums are most essential to members, so these will be the first areas opened after the transition.

 

Other spaces—such as PTC IdeasTKBs (e.g., the Creo Tips and Techniques board), and Groups—may take a little longer to become available.

 

We know a new community space always takes a little time to get used to.

 

Please review some expected changes here.

Hello @Jaime_Lee,
On our internal wiki pages there are many links to posts, ideas etc. from the PTC community.
I assume that URL redirections to the new pages will be set up for all pages and that these will remain permanently, right?

Why did the “Creo Ideas” get separated from the rest of “Creo+ and Creo Parametric”? It seems like they should be together to make them easy to find. Keeping them separate will make them harder to find.

 


 

 

The “Windchill Ideas“ are easy to find in the PLM section.

It looks like maybe the “Creo View / Illustrate / Schematics Ideas” and “Creo Elements/Direct Ideas” should go in the “Other Creo Products (View/Sketch/Illustrate/Layout… and Creo Direct)”.

If I recall correctly, in the previous system there was a way to search *only my own posts* via looking at my profile. This was very useful to provide a previously written explanation for the many questions that are repeated over and over.

Is there a way to do a search of my previous posts in Gainsight? Searching and getting hundreds of -”marginally related from ALL posts ever made by anyone” results is pretty useless. I just want to search through MY posts.

Agreed. Searching for “post” or “idea” by “me” (or someone else specific) used to be super easy.

There’s not currently a way to filter the search exclusively for your own posts or to search your posts from your profile, however we have already received multiple requests and inquiries about this and Gainsight has just begun work on search improvements. So, we expect to see something like this soon.

I am the owner (host) of a group. On the previous platform, owner had a way to invite PTC Community users to my group. Is there a similar feature on the new platform?

Currently a community manager or admin has to handle that on the new platform, but that is changing very soon. I will message you with details.

TRANSLATION

Translation from Chinese to German often does not work (at the first try) ..  Chinese to English looks a bit better, but not 100%.

The original post (the starting one) of a thread can not be translated separately. You can only choose “Translate ALL”. That’s a waste of time  Why isn’t there a ‘translate’ button at the bottom of the original post, as on every other one?

The thread’s title it not translated at all . Even when using “Translate ALL” .  Therefore the HTML <title> is still in Chinese and therefore the Browser TAB name as well →  Incomplete Translation!

Hello,

Under the previous system, posts I made to the group were automatically sent via email to most group members. However, I’ve realized that under the new system, members won’t receive these emails unless they explicitly subscribe. It seems this is because the default subscription setting is set to “Unsubscribe.” Is it possible to change the default setting to “Subscribe”? All the members of the group I belong to preferred having my posts automatically distributed via email. We had been using this function like a group mailing. As a workaround, I could ask as direct message each group member individually to enable the “Subscribe” setting, but since this is a bit of a hassle, I’m looking for a better solution. I would appreciate your advice.

You bring up an important point about groups and subscriptions in general. Unfortunately, users' subscriptions were not able to be migrated to the new platform, and this includes group members’ subscriptions to their groups. However, going forward anyone new joining a group will be automatically subscribed. 

 

For your group we can send an email to all group members notifying them that they need to resubscribe. I will message you directly with details.

Can the PTC Community notification emails contain the text for their comment? The previous emails contained the text / images so it was useful to know if a comment was relevant. Getting many vague emails a day is annoying.

Badge Winners List 

 

Does it make sense to flood the Badge Winner List with ‘low price badges’ ??     IMHO it does not. Because those are spend every few minutes (when we are back to traffic as it was months ago) 

 


With ‘low price badges’   I mean things like 

  • First Reply
  • First Topic
  • Topic Starter
  • etc. 

Add to that list only changes in the 5 ( 10) highest kind of badges (what ever the sequence / naming is for now )

In general, the 'information' in this sidebar should probably be reconsidered.

 
As for these strange batches, I find it hard to believe anyone cares who's recently received one. I think this widget is completely unnecessary.
 
Regarding the 'New Solutions' list, it might be informative for some. However, this list should absolutely only include threads from the currently active subforum and not community-wide information. The same goes for ‘Popular Tags’  (which I would gladly do without)
 

And all those lists definitely don't belong in the "Private Messages" section! There's a lot of other information that would be helpful there, such as clickable inbox, outbox, address list, etc. At the moment, it's very unclear and less informative  there (and unfortunately not only there).
