For the phase II airframe element design, are the teams expected to modify the basline CAD assemblies by creating their own payload and power supply elements in CREO and adding them to the airframe assembly? What kind of performance analysis are they to perform in MATHCAD?
Helical SweepsHi, just wondering if anyone can help with a complex helical sweep one of my students would like to create? The student has produced a helical sweep to represent a round bar and would now like to add a spring over the top of the bar (to wrap around it) so it follows the same shape. In other words they would like to produce a helical sweep around a helical sweep. Does that make sense and is this possible? Attached is a jpeg of the sweep the spring would need to wind around.Cheers
Besides the pre-made designs, will there be any individual motors available? If not can we have the cost of the motors and their specifications from the premade designs?
My team and I are stumped in a section of our design process. We are currently trying to estimate the gross weight of our designs (step 2.1.1.1). We have tools necessary for our design, (i.e. the Mathcad and Excel sheets as well as the Baseline CAD Models) but we don't know where to start. There are two different excel sheets that give weight estimations and we do not know which to use or how to get the specific inputs for them. Mathcad is also confusing us, as there are references made to FloEFD and if I'm not mistaken, we aren't using that software this year.Basically, we were wondering how to go about performing the gross weight estimation and when to start using the Mathcad sheets. Moreover, according to the workflow, after estimating the gross weight, we are to scale the model down so that our camera makes up 10-20% of the total weight. Does this mean we take the empty weight we estimated and resize it so that, for example, a 5 kg camera would be part of a 50 kg UAV?Thanks in advan
Hello, I am a student machine engineering and our proffesor recommended us to register AUDAX and PTC for downloading creo 2 student version for exercise. After several instalations and deinstalations not accepting licence at end I have problem with register Quality Agent, it*s written ¨if you call technical support about this problem report erorr 0x00000013 ¨ I use laptop Dell with windows 8. Pleace give me more information how to resolve that problem. Best regards Snezhana Misheva
PTC needs to shutdown the RWDC server today from 1:00-3:00pm EST to support an emergency situation in the datacenter. This is not part of our scheduled maintenance activities, but is required to support a critical need in the data center. My sincerest appologies for the service interruption. This should be a one-time occurance and I hope you will be able to work around the outage today.

When I extract all, I see a file named setup not setup auto exec. Is this ok?I follow the directions and open setup and download from there. Is this ok?Creo does not seem to work correctly.please help
When I try find cool bike in the directory it is not not there. We are trying to do the exercises in "how to model almost anythin"
I just read through the rwdc course on the the resource page. Are all students required to go through this?It seems to be for last years, or is it generic to all years.I am still confused by the process. everyone keeps telling me to read through the starting page. i have doen this and still cannot get the info I need. Do we have each student create heir own ptc account and have them actually do the downloading? Is this part of the grade?Where do I find the step by step for them?
Hi anyone and everyone! This is our first year doing a challenge. I am the coach but have not done a challenge. We need a mentor to help us to get started. We are late to the challenge and need help getting going. We will be reviewing all the courses this week and downloading the software.Questions:The download instructions say to download two specific programs. Creo 2.0 and math cad. Do we stil need to download all the other programs listed?Once we review the courses, download software and do some tutorials I assume we use the resource documents on starting page (process statement etc..). Which ones do we start with?Where and how do we get to the catalog to pick our uas and other equipment? I am not making the connection here.Any help will be appreciated!thank you,Jon WordCoach for "wired up"
Hello, I use afx to create tubes for a frame. Specifically I use sheetmetal pipes to have the outside diameter and thickness I want. After I trim the tubes that intersect with each other (via profile cut out) I would like to unfold the tube to make a dxf of the 2d sketch. However when I open the tube "example_sm_pipe_10_fl.prt" the flat pattern fails to regenerate. What can I do to have the tube unfolded with its cut out? Thanks!
Is there a way to set up Engineering drawings to load the same information in the template each time???Also is there a way to change the size of the font in the template to ensure that the name of the part will fit in the box?Thank You.
Hello all,I'm trying to do an exercise where I have a set of pairs of spline points which correspond to different sections of a wind turbine blade. I've managed to define a set of co-ordinate axis and space several planes away from one another. How do I form a blade with these spline points?Much appreciated
Two things prompted me to create this model.I saw a student designing a Celtic weave pattern and remembered a Freestyle technique I learned from Vince Haley in his lovely presentation "Geometries that delight". http://communities.ptc.com/docs/DOC-3318. Could PTC Creo Freestlye create this pattern? At the same time I am in the middle of writing an article on 3D modelling for schools and one of the unique selling points (USP) for 3D printers is they can build objects that would be very difficult or impossible to make using other methods. The model above has two separate parts woven together. Using traditional manufacture, the first part could be fabricated from strip material formed into shape and joined together. The second part is more difficult as it needs to be interwoven as it is formed. As long as there is clearance between the parts, most 3D printers will build assemblies. In this case it shouldn't be too difficult to remove support material.Recognising Valentines Day just around the
I just downloaded Creo for my college course and it is giving me a licensing error 26. it will not even open parametric or direct.
I downloaded the free student version and it didn't come with the license, therefore I can't run it. Has anyone else come across this issue?
Hi, I am new to using the creo 2.0 student edition and can not create an assembly. when I create a New Assembly and save the assembly the screen does not change to the assembly tool bar? Do I need the Parametric Program, if so How do I also get that edition?
Can anyone explain to me what the highlighted areas are for in CREO2 Render-Scene-Lights. Despite much playing with rendering, I have not, as yet, found the purpose of these.Thank you
Hello PTC Community, This is my first thread and i have no idea were to post, i just got lost in my rendering problem and had to ask someone to help me, i hope someone will help me here. So i have a part, went through this rendering tutorial and i started rendering with an output of an .jpeg file. I had maximum on all options and i've set all parameters and lights and scenes as i pleased. Now this messege showed up just when i clicked "Render window". I have no idea why, i have no idea what i've pressed... By the way, i have the student version PTC wildfire 5.0 installed. If there is some information you need to know to help me please do tell me. Thanks in advance, cheers! / Emel
For this year's challenge, does our UAV still have to follow the 2-step sensor process (detection and then identification)? If so, how will we know how many pixels we need for detection or identification? Is there also a specific amount of time necessary for each step? I know last year there were fixed numbers for each step: 4 pixels and .5 seconds needed for detection, 20 pixels and 5 seconds for identification. Are we to use the same numbers this year, or estimate new ones based on our search pattern/sensor?Also, if we do have to follow a 2-step process for sensing infestation, how many times will we be expected to perform this during our flight? This will affect our mission time. Last year there was a fixed number of 5 object detections and object identifications during the search. Thank you for your help.
A quick snapshot of Tom from FIRST FRC team 3970 working on mechanisms for this year's robot. It constantly amazes me how quickly these kids pick up both Creo and Windchill!
The very first Scalextric4Schools prototype had a sidewinder motor layout. To fit everything in we used 2mm acrylic sheet.Early in the development of the challenge we moved to using inline motors as this layout is much easier to build. While the inline motor layout has been standard for the online introductory tutorial and classroom use, many of the teams entering the competition and nearly all slot racing enthusiasts use the sidewinder motor layout. Responding to this we have updated the PTC Creo model which can be downloaded using the link below. We now have a sidewinder layout car with 3mm acrylic chassis. The ZIP includes a DXF file for cutting the chassis and an STL file for machining the body mould. If you want to 3D print the body increase the shell thickness to suite the minimum thickness your machine will create reliably. Build the body upside down to reduce the amount of support material. This model has a body shape with wheel arches that are easily removed u
Hello,I remember hearing somewhere that live webinars would be scheduled for this year's challenge, similar to last year. Does anyone know if these are going to happen/where I can get access to them? Thanks in advance
Will there a Mission Planning worksheet to plot out our mission this year?
