Hi,We are able to generate the PDF file from Arbor text editor with Publish->PDF option using XSLT stylesheet. Intermittently PDF has to be generated and modify the content before generating the final PDF. Could you suggest what ways customization can be done in XSLT to achieve the required functionality. Thanks in advance.

We use an in-house authored, very simply styled FOSI to generate PDFs from our XML files (using a slightly modified version of NLM's JATS 1.3 with Oasis tables and MathML). One problem we continue to have is that some Unicode characters, especially those for non-Latin scripts are not displaying in the generated PDFs. These characters display correctly in Arbortext Editor (we are using version 8.1.3.1). When generating the PDFs we will see warning messages like this:Attempt to use non-existent character 'ব' (2476,0x09ac) in font "Cambria"- looking for slant=regular, weight=regular (400)- no substitute character exists in font "Lucida Sans Unicode"Attempt to use non-existent character 'ন' (2472,0x09a8) in font "Cambria"- looking for slant=regular, weight=regular (400)- no substitute character exists in font "Lucida Sans Unicode"Attempt to use non-existent character 'ব' (2476,0x09ac) in font "Cambria"- looking for slant=regular, weight=regular (400)- no subst

Is there a way to test if something is not fr-FR. The use case I'm styling for is that we want to be able to publish one section of a document at a time, retaining compound numbering as if it were lifted from the whole document. So, I might want to number a section as "4B" and have all the automatic compound numbering underneath work as usual under that.At the top level, I am able to style the title (numbering style 1,2,3,...) to start at a number designated by an attribute on the top (part) element at that level (as "4", for example).One level down, however, the (chapter) numbering style switches to A,B,C,... and I am unable to style the title numbering to start at "B" (whether starting from a fixed start position or using an attribute).By default, numbering for this level starts at "A", as one would expect. However, if I click on "Start at" at this level, it gives me a default fixed value of "1", rather than "A". If I set the fixed value to "2", this shows in the preview in the dialog as "B", but the published result is still to sta

History: back in 2014 in 6.1 M040 we turned on the rewritten DITA rds (resolved document for styling) code.At that time, we introduced a settingset ditausenewrds="on/off"This setting was intended to be temporary.  It was a way for customers to revert to the old code if they found an issue.  Once the issue was fixed, they were expected to change the setting to "on". It is 8 years later, and time to deprecate this setting.  The "old" rds code is not supported, and any issues should be reported to Technical Support for resolution. We expect that starting in Arbortext 8.2, the set ditausenewrds="off" will be a "no-op" and all customers will use the "new" rds. --Patti

I am upgrading from Arbortext Editor 7 F000 to Arbortext Editor8.1.  In our schema we have many attributes defined with values that contain spaces.  In Arbortext 8.1, those values are not presented as options in the Editor.  And, when opening a xml document that has one of these attributes with a value containing a space, I get an "out of context" error.  Can you please advise on how to set these values to be valid?? Schema element, Attribute example:<xsd:element name="DocumentType">   <xsd:complexType>        <xsd:attribute name="Type">            <xsd:simpleType>                <xsd:restriction base="xsd:string">                    <xsd:enumeration value="Book"/>                    <xsd:enumeration value="Conference Brief"/&

How does the List of Effective Pages autogenerate when lepcontents is set to autobuild (1)? There must be additional markup you place in a Chapter or modify the attribute.

Hello all, I'm authoring a TM in XML using Arbortext and Notepad to the MIL-STD-40051D. When I open the TM in Arbortext I get the following errors: "Document is structurally invalid at the cursor. <titleblk> in entry &titleblk-XXXX is out of context. Context rules are being turned off..." I click OK and the Completeness Check Log pops up with the following: "Completeness ErrorsObject out of context titleblk-XXXX: titleblk" The cursor is put at the first line of the titleblk. It doesn't give me anymore information than that. When I open the titleblk-XXXX.xml in Arbortext by itself, there are no context errors. Can Arbortext show me where the problem is other than just pointing to the specific .xml file??? Or, at the very least, give me a hint where to start? If this program can detect an issue, why can't it show me what that issue is?

Hi together, we are currently testing the newest version of the Arbortext Editor 8.1., because we are using 7.1. M060 and want to update to be up to date. We are using some customizations in ACL like sending the full marked text from the xml to a java interface, which sends the xml content to a web service. This webservice returns an "errors.xml" back, which we check and create a xui window with these entries of "errors" and show them to the user.We noticed with version 8.1. that our java_static command gets an exception. If we install 7.1. M060 the same code works. I used to be able to edit the Windows Registry to have Styler open as the default program for *.xml/*.dita files. However, since Windows 2007, the registry is has changed, so I can't figure-out how to do this "hack" anymore. So, I have to launch Styler first, then open a *.xml/*.dita file. Has anyone figured out how to set Styler as the default program? (I'm on Arbortext 6.1 if that makes any difference). Thanks, Todd
