I have a need to predefine in a drawing template the display of a quilt in some views in the template. We are currently using view specific layer display settings to manually set this up on views after using the template to create a new drawing. I am looking for a way to define this in the template views to avoid this manual work on all drawings using the template.
See this related thread specific to the use of layers: Drawing template layers: possible to define layers... - PTC Community
A combination state can control a layer state which can then be set in a drawing template view, I tried using this for a view and it works, however the view display does not propagate to projected views (works to spec according to PTC). See: Article - CS432910 - Layer status is changed for a Projected View of a combined state of drawing in Creo Parametric
A combination state would have to be created in a model for each view orientation (16x) in the drawing template so that is more work than manually setting the layer display in a new drawing. Layer status control in part mode works to set the display as desired in part mode but without a combi state I have not found a way to use a layer state in the template for a specific view.
Can anyone think of a possible way to predefine the view display status in a drawing template view such that this quilt can be shown in a drawing using the template?
Can you share more about your use case? It sounds like you're trying to show a specific quilt in some views but not in others. Maybe there's another way to get the end goal without using layers. What's the business requirement for showing/hiding quilts?
